Newcomer / Intro I'm angry about something...

not really angry, but bothered let's say. Anywho, the fines..... THE FINES.. Can one of you fine humans direct me to a hopefully convenient source about finding out more about such things? Please? Because it's been more than once where I left my normal hanger out spot, without a mission loaded and as soon as I leave the mail slot, Bondar Gateway(my home), all these sirens start going off, the police begin threaten me.....etccc. Then the oh so familiar, 236,000 dollar fine appears in your wallet.. Put me down for one rage quit and a new username. I'm good now. Just sayin....lol

It could be anything from illegal cargo, going to fast, cutting up another ship, illegal passengers.
Either way.

Seriously let us know what mission you took and we may be able to help

I know the flight controller flavour speech says to mind your speed when leaving the station, but no one should listen to that advice.

Boost out the slot and keep boosting till you're more than 3KM out - the police won't be able to scan you if they can't catch you.

Then pay your fines off at an Interstellar Factor (IF).

There are several things that can cause the alarms to go off as you leave a station even without a mission which presumably includes not inflicting passengers in yourself.
The familiar to you 236,000 credit fine is a bit of a puzzler unless you have some illicit/illegal cargo on board to that value, in which case as someone said you need to leave the station boosting out of scan range.

I'm a courier, and some day a miner, not a killer, assassin etc(yet)... no bad stuff. I've always kept the speed to <100 until I loose mass lock. Strange, maybe it has something to do with abandoning missions??? Dumping cargo??? I do that a lot. Is that what it is?

Those can get you fines from the mission providers upset with you.

My space suite has two different drugs in it. There not mine, and I have absolutely no idea how they got there officer. I forgot where I picked those up and can't figure out how to get rid of them. There in my space suit. I tried selling them at the bar but I think I need a black market or something to get rid of them. I wish I could just throw em out. Get rid of the evidence.... Also, the fine is not specific as far as I can tell, only the issuing faction and where to pay.. Nothing about what the actual offence was/is.....

A week or so ago i was scouting for opposing PP ships in a Haz Rez, scooping up materials at the same time.
Heading back to the nearest station i noticed some stolen limpets in my hold (i got bored and shot some miners don't hate me!), 2k out i exited SC and dumped them, yep i got a huge fine.

And I can't prove it but, it seems like if you don't donate to the cause, in a mission, you might mysteriously get arrested or shot when leaving the hanger... It's not safe.

Loitering...don't forget loitering...for which the penalty is death...as fast as possible...

@GiantLeap - The in game "Codex>Pilots Handbook>Crime and Punishment" section has most of what you're looking for...

Check your logs. See if you can find any valid reason why.

Suit gear is not affected by the space game. You can also just dump those on a planet somewhere. No fines!

For loitering, reckless flying and things like that, you get a small fixed amount of a fine. 236k would be for carrying illicit cargo/passenger of some sort. There's no problem carrying illegal stuff, but there are two precautions you must take. Nobody cares unless they see it by scanning you, then you get fined and possibly attacked, depending on your crime.

The first precaution is to carry heatsinks. If you ever get the message "Scan detected", you drop a heatsink, which de-targets you and breaks the scan for 10 seconds, giving you time to get away or land.

The second precaution is to use speed so that they don't get a chance to scan you. Basically do not hang around anywhere where they can scan you. Do not use the docking computer outside the station, and don't use the advanced docking computer to leave the station. To leave, wait inside the slot with 4 pips to engines until it's clear, then boost out and keep boosting until you can get your FSD going. When coming to a station, drop out directly in front of the slot and fly or boost straight in, getting permission on the way. If you don't know how to do that, ask and I'll show you. It's an essential technique for getting in the station without getting scanned, as the police normally spawn along the side of the station and fly to the front before they start their patrol. Using that technique, you're in before they start scanning. Outposts are generally safer because police are rare, but speed helps a lot. Boost and fly directly to just above the landing pad, then let the docking computer put you down. use a heatsink if the police attempt to scan you.

None of this is difficult. You should do it all as a matter of routine. Forget stupid advanced docking computers and supercruise assist. They only slow you down and get you into trouble.

Nothing will happen inside the station. All scans are done by the police ouside.
