How does his rank two perk work exactly? What does the bonus in profits apply to?

And I heard the bonus can change depending on where EM stands? Can anyone shed some light here please.

The rank 2 (and above) perk gives you a bonus on trade profits (meaning only the difference between buy and sell price) from goods sold within Mahon space. So it does not matter where you buy, only where you sell. It does not apply to profits from missions, evem though those are counted as trade profit in your statistics. The bonus starts at 5% and gains up to another 15% depending on Mahon's galactic ranking. As that is currently #1, it is at 20% (5% + 15%) at the moment.

The rank 5 perk works similarly, but applies only to profits from rare goods, and is fixed at 50%. So it is unaffected by the galactic standing.

The returns from both perks are given in the form of trade vouchers, so you have to visit the contacts page to cash them in.

Additional note: Since selling Mined ore is considered a Trade activity and the "buy price" of your mined materials was zero, selling your mined ore results in 100% profit.
Therefore the important thing for Miners is to note that the Rank 2 Trade Bonus (5% + currently 15% = 20%) works on the entire total of your Mining sales.

I hadn't thought of that, and as a miner, this is really good news.
