I'm bored but I really don't want to be!

So as the title says I'm pretty much bored now with ED and I cannot wait for more content to come out. I'm a big time Frontier II and First Encounters player and I've always picked them up time and time again over the years but I must say I'm bored with ED at the moment. My main complaint is it feels like another grind and wait MMO. I know a lot of multiplayer games have grind mechanics but I long for social things to do or something to do that isn't just designed to make me gain credits or levels. I don't actually feel like the universe is that story driven and there's nothing new for me to do and see. I may give mining a go but I'm sure that's not going to give me another 100+ hours of game play. I mean I check the Galnet news feed whenever I play but if I didn't check it would it effect my game play.... no it wouldn't!!!

I traded during the betas and release but switched to bounty hunting and I now do missions as well. I power play every week to get my rank 4 and 5 million credits however my play time has reduced a lot.

It just seems to me there isn't really much to do at the moment apart from shoot ships for credits. Now I understand a massive part of ED is space combat which I enjoy but I long for some story driven stuff, some social stuff or stuff to do that doesn't involve me going to a system to kill 8 pirates or farming a RES site.

Help me get my ED mojo back!!!! I've waited years for David Braben to make this!!!!

Even if there were some group missions to do where 4 of us went to take out a base or massive battleship that would be something different... I'd love to sit defending a station from waves and waves of enemy ships.....

I saw another post on the forum which (in essence) was saying the same thing. I recommend now what I recommended then. Take a break, go play something else for a while and comeback when you get the urge to, I'd recommend EvE Online.

Play the Witcher 3. :)

Actually, perhaps don't. Once you see how choke-full of content that game is then you might have a hard time getting back to ED. Right now whenever I see the ad for EDs soundtrack on the launcher I feel disgusted (for the record, you get a TON of FREE goodies for the Witcher 3, soundtrack included).

You never realise how refreshing it can be sometimes to just take a break from a game like this and come back later.
There's a minor learning curve when you get back to pick up on the stuff you miss (like I had with PP) but it makes the whole game seem much more appealing again and exciting.

If you played since beta it means you have been playing E: D for at least 7/8 months; it's a lot of time for a game. I don't know if there are lots of other games lasting so long before ending them or gettin bored playing.
