I'm confused by this premium beta...

So I know that Elite is multiplayer and all, but is it MMO status on one shard or similiar to what Star Citizen is going for with its "MMO" type "spawn players close to you to make it seem populated" approach?

And I kept on hearing about Elite releasing its procedurally generated milky way with the premium beta. Was that wrong or did that actually happen?

On a side note, it is funny to see the REDACTED post about people killing them for no reason. That's the type of game I want to play.

That actually happened, but premium beta is confined in 5 systems for testing purposes, so you can't travel beyond at the moment. But we will be able rather soon.

And it is similar to Star Citizen that you will get people near you in your peer to peer instance. Star Citizen just uses server/client architecture. That's biggest difference.

I see you like PvP, but please, don't use term 'carebear'.

There are only 5 accessible stellar systems now, however these number will be increased through Beta up to 400 billion stellar systems. Devs already stated that data about all 400 billion stellar systems is already in current Premium Beta release, they are just not made accessible yet.

Check the galaxy map. You will see that they have all the stars in the milky way already there, you just can't get to them.

Perhaps additional stellar systems will be released for each new versions of the premium beta ? In all case, it would seem logical for the standard beta

About the side note
When a player is hit by accident he or she turns red (hostile)
So they finish the victim off because they don't want to take a risk.
You see its often not by choice.

I suspect that we'll be limited to these 5 systems all of the time that Frontier need to test the networking code, since the increase overlap means more of us sharing instances.

In other words, I don't expect to jump anywhere else until Gamma.

Only a guess: I disagree. I think too many game mechanics are hampered by only having 5 systems, trading being the most obvious one.

There's really no way to know how well this game will work, and how to balance out countless core issues, until more systems are added and we get some more breathing room.

I agree they need to figure out how to make instance sharing smoother, but I feel like they'll get the data they need without such a (relatively) small space.

Yes you are certainly right for the network aspect. But I think for the standard beta, they will enlarge the game space which will welcome many thousands of additional players
