I'm ... dead :'(

Greetings commander,

It was now 2 years ago i left the bubble for a trip to beagle point. I know we can do faster, but i decided to go far left of the galaxy... i reached BP last year... and did a "long" break with ED...
Few weeks ago i decided it was time to bring my Anaconda back to service...i left beagle and went to the right side of the galaxy to go back to the bubble.

But today was not the day i should have play... I passed near a couple of neutron star and used the boost with no problem. And then arrived near a white dwarf, i tried to boost on it. But it did not work as expected ... and my ship exploded.
I lost everything. :'(
All the time spent... all the discoveries... everything...

I think i know the answer... but is there anything to "workaround this issue" ?

Thanks

There is a part of the community that will recommend you appeal to F Dev's sense of empathy by submitting a ticket.

I'd say, re-buy and take it on the chin. That's the risk you run jumping on stars.

Not sure which will prove more popular though :)

Ouch!
I feel for you.

Crap happens though, especially if you do risky stuff like supercharging FSD with WDs.

Thanks for your reply.

That's exactly what i was thinking...

I really split between those 2 options.
But i'm so disappointed that i'm not sure i'll retry anytime soon, and moreover i was not ready yet to go in the bubble... it was planned in at least 3 months, it would have grant me time to learn what's new since the last 2 years...

I think, i'll wait tomorrow...

I feel your pain, take the time off you need to recover your equilibrium then rebuy and get back out there.

(That's what I did when I managed to blow myself up with months of data on board anyway)

Nooooo.... my condolences.

If you submitted your data to EDSM and thus to the community it isn't really lost.

Here, have a pic of us meeting at Sag*A by chance 4.5 years ago :)

Try to ignore that cracked canopy 😬 I still get sweaty palms just thinking about that

Thanks for your answer guys.

The problem is not about money, i have enough to buy and equip a brand new conda...
It's just the feeling that everything i did during all that time is lost... noone will see my name on any of the ELW i discovered.

Thanks CMDR Redfox. It's a pleasant souvenir. :)
I hope we could met again somewhere.

Now that i'm back in the bubble, i have to know what i'll do next... and i'm afraid i'll be a bit lost there, it's been so long i met noone.

Sorry to hear that. WD should be avoid if possible as they offer a poor return on the boost gamble. All you have now is a SOS to Fdev or sombre reflection. In these trying times I'd cheer myself up and ask for the former.
Good luck.

Oh no - it happened to me TWICE - so don't make that mistake like me. As others have said - avoid white dwarfs for boosting.
Fly safely ... :)

Thanks a lot for all your thoughts.

I remember i went near a couple of WD in the past with no problem, but i think it was even before it gives boost... so loooooong time ago.
Now... lesson is learnt.

I think i never felt that bad when failing at a game... and i played a lot of game.

Nick Sticks seems to say that even if Fdev hear my pain, and recover my ship, i won't get my data back... And if my data are lost, in any case, dead or alive it means my trip was useless... All this done for nothing at all... i don't see any interest for this (the rebuy cost of the ship is nothing...)
Did anyone of you already asked for a respawn to Fdev ? If yes, were your data recovered or not ?

Here the last 2 ELW i encountered...

As you can see the Chimaera is rusty... but still 92% Hull and all component at 100%. :)

It used to be that they couldn't recover data. I think more recently they have been restoring data, but I can't say for sure. It never hurts to ask in the support ticket.

I feel for you because I've been there... ish, though it was mending my LS that killed me, likewise, a goodly ten's of thousands of light years data lost because there wasn't a warning along with the repair..
Take it or don't... we're all different

I'd say roll with the punches.

I lost almost two years worth of exploration data myself to the pesky white dwarf bug back in the day. Jumped into a white dwarf system and came out inside the jet cone, got stuck there and blew up. I might've been able to file a ticket since it was a known bug, but after a day or two I just thought "eff it. It is what it is."
