I'm doing something wrong with Hostage Rescues

Okay, so I take mission to rescue Fed hostages from an otherwise clean Independant captor, i shoot them up some, until they drop the hostages, let them go after that. Because I'm in a Fed-controlled system, I still cop a bounty, but I slip into port with the hostages with no trouble. Problem is, when I get there, I now haven't got the mission at all, and the hostages are still in my hold. What do I do? What DID I do?

Silly. Missions mockups are mockup of the game within the ed simulator. Surely you did not think they work?
