I'm enjoying the Mobius private group. Seems to have 19,000 players. But may need to leave for combat rank.

Two accounts, 2000+ hours, still enjoying but no more grinding to do really except maybe a Guardian FSD bump for the second account.
So what to do what to do, maybe Elite in Combat, last one to get and it will let me engineer up a lighter life support module.

Not sure I understand this: "But may need to leave for combat rank" - why would you need to leave Mobius for that? You get no more combat XP in Open/Solo/PG, it's all the same. Of course, if you want fight in Open you can do that without leaving Mobius any time you want (I fly in Open now and then depending on my mood).
If I've misunderstood, my apologies.

One thing tho, do haz rez or higher cz's. You don't get xp for killing anything less than your rank or above IIRC.
Which I probably don't.

If grinding hazres or conflict zones isn't your thing, find a system with only one other populated system within 10 LY, which has an anarchy faction. All massacre and assassination missions will be for that system, targeting that faction, so stack up and you'll have a reliable source of high rank corvettes giving you up to 2-3m per hit.

Just don't do that in Colonia

Actually you do get points, just not a lot, so technically you can grind from Master to Deadly by killing even Competent NPCs in various Res sites, if Haz only is too challenging.
Sorry if I misunderstood your post.

If anything, grinding combat rank is easiest in PG over the other modes.

Elite in combat is best achieved in compromised nav beacons or against thargoid scouts.
As others said, it doesn't matter if solo, PG or open.

I don't think there were any scouts yet when I was doing the grind. I built The War Wagon (vette) to help expedite the process and slaughtered npcs until my eyes bled in more CNBs than I could count. I tried various other ships, but nothing shreds npcs faster than a vette. IMO of course. :D

You don’t need to leave Mobius to earn combat rank. In fact there is exactly ZERO advantage to combat rank in other modes as PvP doesn’t earn any combat rank whatsoever. If anything you’re better off in Mobius as you can wing up to take down tougher enemies and everyone in the wing earns combat rank for doing it.

Finding a HiRes Extraction spot in an Anarchy system is also a really great way of farming combat rank. Lots of small, elite mining ships, and constant respawn.

By the way there’s another Mobius group out there...depending on your location.

The original groups are full (there’s a 20000 user limit to private groups) so Mobius started a few other groups. They have less members but sometimes they’re more active because they’re more recent members. Original Mobius groups have a lot of old inactive users.

This is why we need an official PVE mode with no limit on number of users.

Point of information. There are several Mobius groups. Generally you are assigned to one based on your real-world region. So far more than 19,000 and probably the single most popular set of groups in Elite. As other note, your combat rank is best achieved in solo or private at combat zones. Still, back in the day Mobius allowed for pvp within combat zones which was fun. Some nice red-blue team play. Griefers ruined that experience and the rules were tightened. Good speed in ranking up!
