I'm flyinng 275,000+ to a terminal due to lack of fuel...

I have a bit of time on my hands so I figured why not write something about it. I still have some investigating to do but it's probably my fault. I wrote down my purchases from a new system and somehow wrote the wrong orbital name down. I got to what I thought was my 2nd to last stop with fuel for enough to one more leap.

I was making a couple grand more without fuel scoop so I ditched it for cargo room. Well I get to this stop and to be safe I checked my last stop to be sure it was correct and ofc NOT! Lol, so I look at my nav screen and there is 2 jumps highlighted and I could already tell that they had no orbitals in them. I then start looking on map and nothing in range. I sit there shaking my head eyeballing the destruct button and a tear rolls down my cheek.

Wait...wait a minute, I have cargo weighing me down...

I start playing with the slider to see how much more jump I can get without some cargo and little by little I'm not having much luck. I drop the slider to zero and have a few more selections but not many. I was able to move it up and save 28 cargo and there was one jump with a large orbital. (oh yeah btw, I can only use large landing pads.) Luckily I looked at my fuel meter and it was totally filled and I would have made the jump but probably not enough to fly the rest of the way, so I dumped them all.

Turns out the flight from the star to orbital, well it says in title but 275k+ and I just pulled in :) with this much fuel left :)

I will be double checking my routes from now on, that's fer sure or go back to the fuel scoop...Hmmm...

Mtn Dewed + Green hud, lol, repped. That was a close one!

If you know you're trading between a couple systems, buy a fuel scoop when you get low and sell it back for cargo space after. Personally I just pay for fuel everytime I dock.

Thanks for sharing!

That is why plan your travel ahead of time. Look at each systems to see if there is a pitstop to refuel. Saves you all the trouble. ;)

I did the investigation thang and figured out what went wrong here. There are 2 "Brom Orbitals" and the one that came up when I entered my return home navigation was a small outpost and was the cause of my detour. I totally put it out of my head that there would be anything with similar names but I was wrong to do that I guess.

Even though you do make a little more money running an extra cargo bay instead of a fuel scoop... I run one anyway. Just for safety and piece of mind. Totally worth the marginal amount of lost income.
