Im fuming

I was leaving the space station in my Anaconda full of resonating separators,.when low and behold an NPC type 7 was in the middle of the exit slot, I mean the middle , that's like driving down the middle of a busy road, as I took evasive action trying desperately to get on the right side of the slot I got wedged under the type 7. I tried like crazy to force my self forwards , sideways and even backwards, my shields were flashing and plinking so I put more power into them still frantically trying to free myself, bit of back thrust forward thrust side thrust, just couldn't wiggle free, the clock was ticking down, the logoffski manoeuvre entered my thoughts, 55 seconds left 35 already gone on the loitering warning clock, damn you type 7 why are you hogging the road, why don't you try and break free why just sit immobile running down my timer, hold full of resonating separators couldn't get us apart, 45 seconds and counting , bit of side ways thrust and right hand yaw and finally free I push my way out the exit and the timer stops in 28 seconds, sigh of relief im on my way, land at my destination, cash in my separators for a nice 500k profit, pick up some gold, and back on the return leg, I arrive at destination and as im tabbing to contacts to request docking I notice a mission, I carry on the docking progress and go back to the transaction tab, its not a mission, its a 400 credit fine, I assume for loitering in the exit with the t7, I mean really a 400 credit fine, I got out before the timer was up what more do you want eh, suppose had I not made it out in time id have been shot to bits eh !! , well im fuming that I had to pay 400 credits in fines, I mean that took me an extra 15 seconds on my turn around time, it really starts cutting into my profits.

Come on sort it out already !!

P.S yes this is good humour not a rant !

You should thank your lucky stars the station didn't kill you when you got back...

They bear a grudge, these stations do :)

I'll reimburse you for your 400cr loss by dropping 10 tons of Biowaste at Uranus.

Meet me there :D

I got a wrist slap when I got wedged today by a type 9 trying to smuggle some naughty contraband into a station. It looked all clear as I came in but he came out of nowhere down the middle and wouldn't budge! Got scanned a second later and hit with a 10k fine. felt like a sting operation... I think someone tipped off the Feds! ;)

Its times like these that I wish there was a separate in and out slot.

Can you imagine what it would be like in a multistory car park on earth if you had to come in and leave through the same gate?

Oh...
How did you get that route?
If you found it yourself please do not share it.
I've been running it for weeks now and would like it not to be ruined.
Thanks, and try to boost next time, tends to work for me. :)

Ha well for once I get to do the champions wave and look all smug.

I was practising my fast entry to avoid being scanned (doing so while of course totally legal so if I mess up I dont get vaporised) when a huge - I presume a type 9 - ship dropped in on top of me. So there I am in my little cobra millimetres from this leviathan which has decided to dock at the same time - I am looking up at its belly plates. I keep my nerve, regulate my speed and continue into the station perfectly tucked under the monster (praying that it does not drop down to a pad as soon as we clear the entrance). We clear and I zoom forward - not a scratch on the cobra in one of the most awesome docking manoeuvres ever - and I was the pilot.

I was so elated I pulled it off and I so regret not having a video thingy set up so I could put it on youtube and show everyone - and of course this was out in the sticks so the only witnesses to such a superb piece of flying were damn NPCs.

LOL! That must have been a funny sight from a 3rd parties perspective. An Anaconda and a Type 7 wedged stuck into the docking slot.

If uranus is producing 10 tons of biowaste, you really need to see a doctor

There are plenty of those - the solutions are usually either a set of traffic lights, or people leaving have priority.
.
The lights idea could easily be implemented in E:D - the lights are there already. Flashing red lights = no go. Green light = go. All you'd need to do is have the station (massively) fine anyone who goes in or out when the other side has priority.
.
I just got a clipper - there's no way that sucker is going through the slot unscathed when there's an NPC hogging the middle, even if it's just a little one. No worries - I just wait. You get five minutes to leave. You can see all the way out on the scanner. As long as you're not blocking the doorway, you'll get out in time. Wait on the station's centreline, well back from the slot. Anyone blocking it gets about 30secs to clear out before they get shot. If the shooting does start, the centreline is te safest place, you might get hit if close to the slot and/or off-centre.
.
On the way in it's even easier. There's no penalty for failing to dock in the alloted time. Just make sure you cancel docking if you only have a few seconds left, rather than try to rush through the cleared slot and dock.

I read this earlier and have been mulling this around. It reminds me of a puzzle.

"A truck has height X and gets stuck attempting to drive under a bridge of about exactly the same height. How do you get it out?"
The answer is to deflate the tires a bit.

Does anyone know if the OP could have gotten out by shutting down their shields?

That is to say, if the shields are up and an expanded bubble is created around the stuck ship, does the game take that into account when determining what the ship's "physical" boundaries are? And then, if so, would lowering the shields give the pilot more wiggle room?

We don't need separate slots we just need everyone to keep to the left ;-)

maybe not with an Anaconda though... it costs about 50,000 per 1% hull damage to repair!
