I'm in a bit of a jam

I'm docked at a Coriolis, there are no authority ships on the contacts list, does this mean there could still be some coppers outside? or does none on the list mean I'm free to leave and get no scan? also, it seems this station has no black market, will it tell me if a station has a black market on the map screen where it says stuff like 'shipyard, outfitting, commodities' etc?

It just means there's no contacts within your sensor range (4km for basic module?)

I believe you can only get scanned once outside the dock.

Just go engines hot and boost your way out of range. Scan takes a while to complete so you have a chance to get out of range and get to SC even if there are cops out there.

Also consider silent running to lose any locks.

There is no way to discover black markets at stations, unless you use out of game tools, best to go to outposts as they don't scan you on the way in and hope they have a black market.

I've always thought that you have a much better chance of finding a black market at an outpost controlled by the mob. You can certainly work out who controls the station from the map. Mind you it is not a certainty and may just be wishful thinking on my part!

If you are ok with abusing the system... Undock, log out, log in... And you magically get transported out of the starport, far enough to be outside of the scan range.

Hey OP did you get out with your hull intact? ;)

yes thanks, it seems the Cobra is fast enough to evade scans exiting a Coriolis at high speed, no need for silent running. I do hope they change the smuggling a bit though, it feels a bit too easy unless you notice at last second a Type-9 is blocking the entrance, the Cobra is a really fast ship but it has trouble slowing down and stopping :)

Heh, yeah it's a bit of a beast. Better thrusters will help with that to some extent.

Once you upgrade its thrusters it gets much more precise at stopping on a dime... or at least a half dollar. :)
