I'm in the wrong business...

Okay, yeah... being someone who hauls (albeit smaller loads) from time to time this has inspired me to look at Pythons again.

I've actually been considering a T9 for doing some hauling, too... tough decision to make here.

I've nearly always gone for the Conda for large haulage, unfortunately I had not initially noticed how many missions were closed off to me because of landing pad size, I underrated the Python as a utility ship, but now see it's balance, reasonable cargo space, and more missions.

Guys, I've a confession to make, I mis-remembered events from last night, it wasn't a 8m mission I did, it can't have been, it must have been a smaller one, but I'd SEEN a 8m and a 9m mission, which I now realise are all to hutton orbital (I'm in game now). Still, 3m for a short hop to Wolf 359 is still good (that's what I'm seeing) and stacking 3 or 4 hutton orbital deliveries in a T9 would prove an EXTREMELY lucrative (how long does it take, 45 mins?) venture. Still not seeing the medium range deliveries (30ly-120ly for example), but overall this mission board tweak has been great, I'm seeing more high level missions than ever as well.

90 Minutes. It takes 90 minutes. Roughly half of a Lord of the Rings movie.

And Hutton Orbital is an Outpost, so nowhere to land that Type-9, but you're still welcome to make the trip.

I haven't been able to afford an Anaconda yet, unfortunately- and to be quite frank, without being able to afford the insurance rebuys on a kitted out Conda, I'll probably avoid buying one until I have at least twice the purchase price. This way I can kit it out and still afford rebuys.

The Python is much closer to my budget, indeed. I've had one previously- but made the mistake of thinking it was combat capable when I had it fitted for cargo runs (which I'll never make again) so this time around if I get one I'll probably skip the weapon hardpoints altogether and make it lean for hauling. :)

Yeh, that was already pointed out. Doh! 90 minutes, wow, I don't remember it taking that long (it's easily been 18 months since last and only ever trip)

Once you've got it A-rated (and engineered, if that's available), the Python is an utter beast in combat. If you're willing to forgo absolute cargo capacity in favour of a 6A shield (outpost missions never require more than 120t capacity to my knowledge), the interdictions become more about deciding whether or not you want the extra money.

I have an Anaconda in storage; I only use it when I want to multicrew+fighters with my kids.

That's what I do, it's essentially just a flying cargo box, no weapons, no utility mounts and just a 3C shield, but I always A rate the drives, it's enough to get out of most problems.

*shrug*. It's certainly not happened since just today.
Have retired as bounty hunter, joined the space truckers, filled Python with cabins and have being doing these 50-100mil-a-run missions since day before yesterday. Already swimming in rare materials and money. Plan to become Elite in trading and a double-billionaire by tomorrow.
Then I can finally quit ED (yet again) and switch to other games in my already too-long queue (and Christmas sales are already looming...).

It's hard to beat the Python for mission running. You can equip her with decent shields, plenty of firepower, an SRV, and an SCB And still carry 160 tonnes of cargo. What's not to love? Mix in a little Engineer alchemy and it's just magic!

Yep. Alchemy indeed is the key to make it turn like a light ship - then you suddenly can forgo turrets and make it shine.
Keep on truckin', poppin' these assasin's FDLs on the way :)

Seeing as how this looks to be morphing into another Python celebration thread, and how I just don't have the energy to recount my personnal experience with the thing again, I supposed I had better just buy the damn thing again and have another go at it.

I mean, it was great for mining and I really felt like it was starting to get somewhere with it, but I just couldn't get into any kind of conflict with an NPC without having to run away almost immediately! I wad using it as a final leg up to my Anaconda, and I had just gotten ready to start working on the hull, thrusters, and shields when I realized that with the money I was about to spend and the value of the Python, I had more than enough to purchase and fully (nearly) outfit the Anaconda. So I did.

However, that was in the spring and I have much more combat, engineering, and outfitting experience, and a lot more money, so I'm sure it will be better this time.

I even bought a livery for it an everything and always hated that I disliked it so much. I guess The Full Monty is going to make a come back!

Its still a niche ship though. When the job calls for Anaconda-lite but no large pad, fire up the Python!...

I've seen those missions. They kind of cheese me off!

They are basically Python-only missions. I want to do them (or similar ones) in my favorite ship in the game - the T-6.

I can afford a trade-Python and have the mats to engineer it but I've owned one and just didn't get along with it.

Well, desert... errm armored space bus driver certainly paid well:

Note that Python can take about six of these ;)

... an hour later, "our ship now have started decelerating and we will land at star port in 15 minutes"...

Yeah I’ve been quietly 1-hopping boom trade missions since 2.4 hit in my T9 for 1-6mil a pop. Don’t even need a fuel scoop.

Don’t say it too loud though if players like it it will get nerfed.
