I'm just curious ....is it okay to cry?

This is why I store money in ships, have about 30 in total, including maxed out Adders that I never use. If it all goes mammaries up I can salvage a nice chunk of cash to rebuild.

This is an excellent tactic and has saved my bacon too. I'm happy taking the steady slower route but having a bigger cushion to fall back on. Still, nobody is immune to a horrible accident at the worst possible time.

Well, since everyone ignores me when I ask what I am supposed to see in that picture, I guess you all have no idea how those statistics work.

Credits spent on outfitting does not mean loss.

I have 100 million spent on outfitting, yet I never had that amount of money. It adds up when you buy and sell stuff. Since you get 100% back, you didnt lose anything.

Hope that helps.

I lost 500,000k in bounty money AND my ASP the other night.
I was wasting Anaconda's and I came across a Deadly one and thought ...mmmMMMmmm..... Nice £120,000k bounty!
I got wasted :-(

I got too greedy really and I paid the price. But that is the nature of the game. Risk v Reward.

Pft. I lost 700k by crashing my Asp twice today, once into a luxury trader (misjudged my trajectory as I tried to do a flyby with boost) and the other one crashing into an Orca that decided to suddenly place itself sideways at a station entrance.
Then there was that time where I accidentally pressed my boost key inside a station, except I managed to survive (even though I don't have shields so it got me a nice 100k repair bill).

I made 8 million credits tonight though so it just made me laugh each time. It's cool to be able to afford to drive recklessly. Can't wait to upgrade to a type 7 and create awful accidents all the time.

Total Assets is what you are worth Now! Ship, upgrades and bank balance. If you sold your ship and all its contents, that is how much you would have. 400k ain't so much.

Wrong. You can easily do those 30M in a Sidewinder if you buy the 500k turrets sixty times. You just need 500k. If he would die with it, rebuy costs would be around 30k.

As I said, you cannot deduct any form of a painful loss from teh the numbers in the screenshot. That's why I was asking what I should see. What did the Commander lose? Still haven't gotten an answer. :(

I stand corrected. :)

I don't get it either. Total assets only includes the *current* ship, at least in my game. If I swap my ship for a stored one my total assets change, whereas I don't really lose or gain anything ofcourse.

Anyway: I guess somewhere it shows he lost a big ship. Which sucks. Good luck recovering!

Read through the thread again, the OP specified what she lost.

EDIT : I quit Elite ! (for today)
A silly idea came to me : seeing if you can boost in a straight line to get inside a station and from how far away. So naturally I aligned myself with the huge railgun in the back of the Coriolis, to have some kind of "max finish spot", aimed for the slot and boosted. Just lost an A Viper and something akin to 60k credits in fed/alliance bounty, but that was somewhat expected. Luckily I had 11x rebuy cost (now 10x).
What worries me tho is the mission I had for empire, a simple delivery. Does the mission count as abandoned ? What influence will my death have on the whole simulation ? (that last question is so philosophical...)

Most missions (all?) are in instantly failed upon death. The result is a reputation loss with your former employer. As for the galactic simulation, not much happens. In short: You are just one guy, nobody really cares. ;) See it like this: you work for the post-office and die on your way delivering a birthday card. It could have, chaos-theory and all, massive effects, but generally speaking nobody but your family and friends would care.

okay, thanks I guess. What's weird is I was neutral before dying and friendly after rebuying. Nice right ? Will boost again :p
