Im making an animal museum

Sort of self explanatory. I'm currently planning out a zoo that doubles as an ancient history museum incorporating section themed around ancient Egypt, the Mayans and feudal Japan as some examples.

I've already made a few choices for animals such as the caracal in my Egyptian section to represent those beloved cats every Egyptian ruler had. Just wondering if you guys have any other animals you think would fit well for this?

Not sure what section this thread should go in. Mods can move it if another area is more applicable.

There's a lot of potential for an ancient Egypt section, if you display the different animals that became extinct during different parts of Egypt's history. These are the in-game animals that used to live in Egypt (or similar species), grouped by the time period when they became extinct:

Predynastic Period (before the huge Egyptian civilization began), roughly 6,000 to 3,000 BC
1. Spotted hyena
2. Plains zebra
3. White rhinoceros
4. Common warthog
5. Nile lechwe
6. Blue wildebeest
7. Cape buffalo

Archaic Period (the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt), roughly 3,000 to 2,600 BC
1. West African lion (lions did survive later than this, but they were short-maned rather than the long-maned lions of Planet Zoo)
2. Reticulated giraffe

Old Kingdom (when most of the great pyramids were built), roughly 2,600 to 2,200 BC
1. African elephant
2. African wild dog

New Kingdom (when the Egyptian empire was at the peak of its power), from 1,570 to 1,544 BC
1. Cheetah (had been absent prior to this and only colonised during this time)
2. European fallow deer (standing in for the Persian fallow deer)
3. Gemsbok (standing in for the very similar beisa oryx)

Historical times (after the fall of the ancient Egyptian empire), from roughly 330 BC to prior to present day
1. Hippopotamus
2. Scimitar-horned oryx
3. Amur leopard (standing in for the African leopard)

Modern-day - animals that still live in Egypt
1. Red fox
2. Striped hyena

Here is a timeline of large mammals, showing when they lived and became extinct in Egypt. Some other in-game animals are missing from this list, such as aardvarks (became extinct in upper Egypt during prehistoric times) and ostrich (became extinct in Egypt in the early 1990s).
