I'm new. I suck at this. Best tutorials?

To preface - I am a Coaster Head Club member with a pre-ordered Thrillseeker Edition. I'm normally a Mac guy and finally bought a mid-tier gaming laptop specifically for Planet Coaster yesterday. I've owned it since launch, but last night was the first I've ever played. I also posted this on Steam, but realize some people may not check there and vice versa.

I played RCT 1, 2, and 3, when they came out (RCT 1 came out my sophomore year of HS) and never had any problem picking them up quickly. I'm not having the same luck with PC. Not even close. I am having issues using the camera, issues with path placement, and issues placing rides and scenery (like why on earth do you have to hold CTRL every time to place something ground level????). Any recommended YouTube videos or tutorials? I have to admit, I'm extremely embarrased I have to ask.

I've already learned a trackpad is a 'no-go' for this game, so I grabbed a Logitech mouse. My computer itself seems to be handling it just fine - 7th Gen Core i5 and a GTX 1050 4gb with an SSD.

The problem seems to be me. *sigh*

You don't hold control to place stuff at ground level.
CTRL is used to keep paths from joining nearby paths. "Z" held while making paths let's you join path at an angle.

SHIFT let's you raise and lower things. I think if you hold CTRL while placing things it brings up some red and blue compas points that restrict movement to those arrows. "Z" let's you rotate an item on the ground plane freely, or with adjustable angle snapping. "X" brings up the advanced movement gizmo to rotate in all axis.

It's going to take some time until the controls become second nature.
This game went off the grid which really makes things more complicated, but gives you so much freedom!

I also suggest that you try the career mode because it makes you pickup the game part per part and gives you a bit of scenery "ideas"

Well you use the mouse to rotate and move around. Not exactly sure how it would work different than most games or anything that has a 3d view (like google earth).

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and help. I watched a bunch of YouTube tutorials and regrouped and I'm doing great tonight :)
