I'm not sure where to ask this -

The VR forum seems to be all about 3d head mount displays, which is fine I supposed but there are some folks who prefer to build physical cockpits.

I've got a couple of questions that I don't know where to ask, so I guess I should ask them here.

First of all kudos on the game, it's technically brilliant and beautiful.

As a sim enthusiast I am wondering what pilot presented information will be made available to players to build customized external panel controls if we are so inclined? I'm thinking specifically of having reasonably realtime access to information sufficient to build cockpit situational displays or drive backlit information panels. The use case here would be for instance in the simplest case to have a lit switch on a physical panel for gear/hardpoints/scoop that reflect the status of those systems.

The default interface has the left and right multifunction panels accessible in a modal fashion with a mode toggle and hat switch. is there any thought to permitting us to export those displays and allowing the player to utilize external multifunction displays for those information panels? They appear to be set up for it already. by 'export display' I'm asking at the very least for those windows to be movable and presented in 2d. a very high grade solution would be to be able to pull the bit rectangle from an API and allow us to write custom apps to populate the MFD. The latter would require additional button mapping so that specific MFD controllers can be mapped to specific information panels.

if there's a better place to ask this, please point me in that direction.

There is an API promised (search the forums, there was a thread asking for suggestions for what is to be implemented). There is no news on the API yet, but I believe it is still on the cards and would be ideal for external screens/info.

As purple said, a while ago FD asked for suggestions about what we would like to see from an API. I certainly think that an API that pulled real-time cockpit info and put it into a MFD (via a piece of middleware) would address your needs. Also things like tab and screen aspects and access to specific functions would allow for a much richer use of Voice Attack.
FD - any news on the API??
