So the title was just snark, but it's a real post y'all.

I bought the alpha [inserted wall of text describing how I am happy waiting for the devs to add more] and I've dropped in and out since then.

Elite is finally starting to come together for me. I am engineering, winning combat, working on making a minor faction powerful in a system, I jumped to pleiades and to the witch head nebula just cause, I found biological sites, I smuggled, I hacked, I loaded a python with Opals and there's STILL MORE TO DO!

I can wait excitedly for space legs (we all think that's next years update right?) And excitedly for mining and economy to balance out, etc.

So that's it, I'm here to stay (don't try to make me leave).

I leave and return at intervals. Well, not so much "officially" leave as stop playing for quite a while, then eventually wander back and play for quite a bit for a month or two, with up to a year's gap in between. Whilst there are certainly issues with the game I get the impression those storming off leaving (not the OP obviously) are expecting it to keep them enthusiastic 360 days a year. When it comes to entertainment that never works.

I'm still playing also, blooming crazy mechanics and all. I just try to avoid bits I don't like.

SLF deaths are bugged now. You get stuck with the explosion running very loud and in loops. In VR it is just the most poo experience you could get.

Dont you dare quit the game when this happens to you.

I can't get tired of space being too big because space is SUPPOSED to be too big! That's why they call it space!

Regarding the rest of the game, if I could get down under the dash and twist wires together, repair cracks in the hull with a hand tool while in deep space, and use a pad and pencil to calculate fuel consumption before a jump, I would love it!

I adore the new FSS scanner--tuning my radio telescope?? Yass! It's also really well designed, in that I can see by the wavelengths if this is an ice-ball system or not. Bonus that I can scout all the USSs from the entry point!

DEEP CORE MINING: Dude, I've been begging space sims to let me do real mining since I played Privateer 2. I only hope the economy is adjusted so that bulk laser-mining of stuff like osmium becomes viable in my T-10, and so that using the laser, SSD charges, Seismic charges and abrasion blaster on one asteroid becomes the way to go for max cr.

Anyway, I can't believe I'm so excited about a game I spent 200GBP on years ago.

I don't get that at all. It's more like what you would do in your research vessel if you jumped into a new system. You'd chill out at your scan-panel and identify everything in the system. Mmreh? Whatever.
