... that as my grandmother used to say, "I could spit nickles". Stupid and anarchicistic saying but if I said what I really wanted to say ED would probably cancel my account and send a squad of SAS types to the US to teach me manners.
Keeping in mind that numerous (in fact almost every single one of the 100+ games I own) have key editing systems that are intuitive and easy to use and can be renamed to what ever you want and pulled up when ever you want. The the ED key binding edit system in comparison is totally hosed and must have been designed by a monkey (and that's the nicest way to say that that I could come up with)
My X52 Pro is going south. Still mostly works and it's set up with voice attack - around 60 commands. Renamed the Saitek X52 default to X52Pro ages ago, built it up and eventually copied the custom file over to X52PRO and renamed the 1st line in it as the X52PRO version etc etc.
I select the X52PRO binding once and all is good for about the last year. No problems.
But because it's going south I bought a new Joy Stick. A Thrustmaster T16000m Flight Control System (big, big mistake - don't get this for ED - but that's another thread so I'm not going there).
Anyway - knowing that ED's key binding system is flawed I copied both the X52Pro binding file and the X52PRO.2.0 Binding file to files of the same name with the Copy tag in the new name.
Loaded up ED with the TM FCS attached and went to controls. Pulled in the T16000m default binding which was now in the list and spent about 1/2 hour setting up the joystick and TWCS throttle and about another hour setting up Voice Attack. Worked OKAY but the nicest way I can say this is that was $106 I'll never see again and was totally wasted.
So I went back to the X52PRO binding (figured it wouldn't have changed). !!!! It had reverted to the default Saitek X52 Pro ED supplied binding with no Voice Attack setup at all.
No big deal thought I. I'll just restore the backup. So I killed the bad ones. Restored the backups. And again ! !!!!!
When I loaded up the restored X52PRO binding - it too had reverted to the default Saitek X52Pro bindings.
Came close to just sayin' *&^%##$%()(*(*!!!!!!! and wipin' ED off my drive...
... Real Close...
Didn't. Too much time invested in it and I like it. Good game.
But MAN! whoever designed the keybind edit system??? Lucky he/she doesn't work for me - he/she would be gone and I don't know if it can still be done but black balled right out of the industry.
