I'm sorry but I just can't complain

I too enjoy the game with or without Skimmer/Mining missions.

The detraction for me on Skimmer missions is that you can "cheese" them by loading up with missiles and safely killing them from the sky, no risk, no challenge and in my opinion no fun.

Back in the olden days (I should probably be sucking on a large pipe and tucking my hand into a lapel whilst gazing dreamily out of a window) I did do skimmer missions, but did it with an SRV and hooned about the destination in a range of 60km, using my scanner to locate High signals and destroy those dratted skimmers. It was more fun, made you use the scanner, use an SRV and took some time.

Its a pity they cant re-introduce he mission but have it so hat it isn't the ones at the POI but in the surrounding area, so CMDRs can still stack these missions, but it means they gave to search for them out in the wilds and use an SRV to destroy them. This is just a gentle suggestion, so no need to respond with vitriol about being forced to play the game a certain way ;-)

In mean time I am enjoying looking for trades with the trade tool and also doing these apparent "inefficient" wing missions, as they are fun!

OP thanks for creating this thread!

P.S. "Yeah.. so Skimmer Missions have temporarily been suspended.... they'll be back.... but there IS more to EDH life than simply zapping skimmers!"
Not for me there isn't. There's nothing else in the game that can compete with the pop of a skimmer after you've nuked it, then the chink of the cash falling into your bank account. How can you say that driving around in an SRV frustratedly looking for rocks can compete with that? You can keep your Asp. I'm having fun flying around in my wing of colour-matched Cutters, looking for the next exploit opportunity for wealth.

Yes, those ruins are very atmospheric. A few days ago I had an exciting few minutes after scanning the data sphere; three sentinels came after me together. I found that I couldn't win against three at once so I ran like mad into a group of obelisks, then lurked around taking pot shots trying to fight the sentinels one at a time. Once one went down I knew I had a chance. Brilliant content.

That was a joy to read OP!

I feel the same way. 3.0 is the best patch ED has had yet. The new engineering together with the material traders and destroyed ships dropping rare mats, the Chieftain, planets that are beautiful once more and wing missions, this patch brought me back to the game after a long hiatus.

I agree 3.0 has been a great update despite some of the bumps in the road.
The new Guardian sites are good, though it would have been nice if the GalNet article had indicated you should visit Ram Tah before heading over there... Ho hum.
Talking of GalNet, I'm loving having the news to listen too while I fly or drive along - more articles please :D

Yes, the new guardian ruins are quite compelling. A littel bit like space Machu Picchu.

Commander Esteban approves of this statement. Yet somewhere out in the galaxy there still lie the fabled Cities of Gold. Anyone interested in mounting an expedition should meet me in a little tavern in Barcelona.

Anyway, +1 also to hems303. So much negativity and gloom on the forum since 3.0 released. There are some annoying bugs to be sure, and criticism is warranted, but I'm getting a little fatigued by the constant moaning. Your post was a breath of fresh air in the dreary vacuum.

Cheers.

I can't resist :D

The missions sounded good, but we don't need FDEV forcing us to destroy targets using an SRV.. How stuff is blown up is up to us.. No idea why or how in lore a skimmer would be immune to ship weapons, but utterly vulnerable to the same weapon mounted on wheels. Meh..

Other than that, awesome screen shot! Would be spectacular in VR I bet.

Now, time to get out the SRV and go and explore that cave over yonder.... with friends.

P.P.S. Mining missions too :D

Yeah.. sorry only found out about the mining missions after I posted.... have often done these myself...they'll be back and mining is supposedly due a mega-buff come Q4.

Thanks to all Commanders above for their support and kind comments, I've repped where I can as any positivity on this forum is refreshing in and of itself.
