Hi there commanders! I'm Cmdr Focko Hoft, a small-time writer looking to invest some effort in a new and interesting project. For a long time I've lurked the forums and the subreddit without much time to really get involved in anything, but recently I have been able to properly get back into Elite and it's been such a joyous experience playing the game, listening to Lave Radio and reading of all your amazing exploits.
What spurred on this idea was the forum post detailing the preliminary arrangements for Distant Worlds 2. I saw that one of the roles was for media correspondents and I just couldn't get the idea out of my head.
So in the next few days I will be setting up a blogpage on wordpress for "The Fuel Scoop", an independent galactic news outlet.
I'm thinking: advice for new commanders, regular buckeyball race results, testimonials from commanders who have had an amazing experience and want people to hear about it, snippets of conspiracy, general news ala galnet (but with a more opinionated, 1930s news-anchor type vibe) - all framed in-universe, roleplay style.
I'm just posting here to see if there's any interest in the idea and if the brilliant minds here have any suggestions for cool formats or subsections. I hope eventually to start doing small interviews with commanders, to try and let people see the amazing stories we create every day.
This will be an attempt to establish The Fuel Scoop leading up to the glorious days of Distant Worlds 2, where I hope to be able to bring a ton of cool on the spot coverage of that insane emergent experience.
