Ships I'm tired of the Viper...what should I upgrade to?

Wow, tons of food for thought here, thanks everyone! Very tempted to plump for a Courier now. I really am allergic to trading so i'm kind of hesitant to go the T6 route. I might just keep mining RES and soforth until I can purchase the Courier outright and go from there.

If you like the Viper and want a "Viper+", it's the Diamondback Scout. The DBS has 2 more utility points and pretty much double the jump range. It's slightly slower under normal power but slightly faster boosting, and is so much more maneuverable. It's also very good at silent running, which can be a very useful tool in combat.

The Vulture is great but it's a different animal. A really, really boring one to fly.

EDIT: I see you're tempted by the Courier. You can't go wrong with that ship either, it's great, and very different from the Viper in a good way.
