Impact Warning on leaving space station in Cobra MK III why?

I know the obvious answer is "You're too close to the sides and are hitting them" but I am dead centre 5 by 5. Without an external cam to verify what is hitting where, I am left wondering if this is a 'feature' or if I am really doing something daft?

I figured it was just a warning like when you are heading straight for a planet but I do have to repair my ship to the tune of 500 - 2500 credits every few hours even without combat.

Landing gear is retracted and I have tried going through at various speeds...

Any ideas gratefully received :)

You are aware that you sit on the left of the Cobra, right? maybe being in the exact centre isn't where you want to be. Having said that, I've flown mine sideways and squeezed past other craft at funny angles..

On re-reading I see you are talking just about the warning - I guess that's just a threshold issue reminding you that you're bigger than you think. The money you pay every few hours is just wear n tear from flying it.

It's probably just your prox warning going off. Just be glad it works. :)

And I thought "5 by 5" had to do with clear communications? not flying through a pipe...

Its just not very smart is all, just means you are coming close to an impact because of the distance to the walls.

Does it in pretty much every ship cobra or bigger no matter how perfectly aligned.

Trust me, getting a proximity warning in and out of the slot is a welcome "feature." It is only annoying when you know you are close to something. When you fly in and out of the platforms in the dark, you'll find out you get pretty near some masts and stuff you didn't even know were there. Getting a little warning before you hit something at high speed, if only to allow you to throttle back a smidge is better than the consequences.
