Imperial clipper vs fed dropship

It is depressing how much better than the drop ship the clipper is, seriously considered grinding imperial rep because of it. In solo or single player it is not an issue, but at some point I am sure folks flying for their respective navy will want to show their faction ship off, who the hell wants to show off a dustbin cart, let alone get involved in combat in one.

got the clipper yesterday and i love it

- very fast
- i use b thrusters and it turns more like an asp than those slow turning npcs - but to turn fast it has to go fast and so 1 pip in engines is necessary while fighting
- very much power and big damage dealer (using c3 gimballed beam lasers with 2 f2 gimballed multicannons atm)
- much cargo space

but there are some downsides:
- i noticed while fighting that the class 6 shields (got an A grade) or maybe shielding at all (even with a class 7?) is very weak for the size of the ship
- current weight is empty 708 / loaded 876 and jump range is 17.4/14 (reinforced alloy, b6 thrusters and powerplant, fsd a5, pd a6, sens a5, shield a6, cell bank c3, a2 interdictor and fuel scoop)
- fuel tank class 4 (16 tons) so maybe fit a fuel scoop for safety
- the large hard points are perfect for turreted beam lasers class 3 (about 19 million cr each) - they do a lot of damage and with a grade sensors they hit far and in an awesome angle but as it is with turrets atm you get wanted very fast - it will hit friendly or neutral ships while shooting the target
- best ist to go for gimballed c3 beams atm but an enemy that spams chaffs... - with fixed weapons no chance to hit target at short ranges

here's a funny trick - when you see the enemy chaff away, simply un-target him. Gimballs will work just like fixed eapons, albeit without lead indicators. Not much of an issue with lazers.
