Imperial Clipper.

Trying to make it a 200 ton cargo blockade runner with shields is proving to be a problem. I know what! I'll get rid off the shields altogether and make it run away in silent running away mode!

I christen this ship "Her majesty's tow"!

Clipper has garbage shields due to its absurdly good top speed and pitch rate. It's better suited to boom and zoom than sustained dogfights.

So many people here don't know how to fly the clipper it's hilarious.

I fly my clipper in both pvp and pve and all I can say is I've never had this much fun in an FdL. My clipper boosts to over 580m/s, has over 350mj of very resistance shields that come up in seconds, it can deal out over 1200 dps, and holding all this together is 2500 hit points of very resistance hull that due to its size and module placement is more effective then most ships avoiding module damage.

The clipper doesn't need FDL like shields as it doesn't fly or fight like an FDL. It's meant to come in fast and hit hard, then leave just as fast. Over the last few CGs I've claimed easily over 20 big ship kills. I'd say the clipper if built and flown as intended is fine as is with the exception of hard point placement which sucks for plasma loadout.

To the best of my knowledge the Clipper has always had disproportionately weak shields compared to other ships. This is offset by its versatility as a multirole, and its handling. If you're going to use it primarily as a combat ship you'll need to take advantage of its maneuverability and speed. With A-rated thrusters it handles almost exactly like a Cobra mkIII.

Pretty much exactly what i said :D.

Clipper is a superb armed trade ship that is very manuouverable, has some teeth and okay shields with bi-weaves. I have no issue with the clipper, but to be honest, i haven't flown it in a while, I sold it as I needed the cash. I may rebuy it though as out of the larger ships, it was the only one I liked to fly.

Anyone that owned a Python then bought a clipper usually goes back to the Python, do yourself a favour and get a Python.

I've always ended up doing the opposite - I just can't get used to the Python's slow speed and rotation (turn rate).

Python is without a doubt a staple, highly capbile versatile ship. But its boring in comparison to the Clipper unfortunately.

Dosent look as good, dosent turn as well, dosent sound like mutated hippo when it boosts and dosent move the same.

Python is the "safe option" which is precisely why i didn't pick it.

Plus, the ships are very comparable but the price isnt, you certainly dont get 30mil more ship for the price of the Python.

Yep, mothballed my Clippers a long time ago, still have a few scattered around the bubble, would never sell them. A fun ship tho, just severely lacking in tonnage for a large pad ship, the Python does the job much better + all the other large pad ships outclass it as a workhorse.

Would have made more sense to make the Clipper slightly smaller and fit on Med pads, it doesn't even handle like a big ship except for vertical thrust., way too twitchy for my taste.
