Imperial Clippers deserve much better

Anyone found a decent sharpener for the clipper wings yet? i mean I cut some viper clean into two with my right wing a few days ago, but today I tried the same for cobra, and it just didn't cut it. I had to shoot the thing after that. Totally uncivilized way of executing a pirate. Otherwise no need for buff really.

I think it does need a little bit of love. Not a lot, but some. It kinda sucks at everything.

As a trading ship, with its tiny 16t fuel tank, it only really works for luxury trading. Otherwise you have to fuel scoop pretty much after each jump (and have to bring a fuel scoop, reducing cargo)
As a fighter it's hardly amazing with unfortunate hard points placement and a big profile to shoot at.
As an exploration ship: see 16t fuel tank.

A third large hardpoint would strain the 6A distributor too much.

I really think the clipper is fine and balanced on all aspects, it's probably too good a trader compared to the equal value Type 7 which really can't do anything else while the Clipper can even scoop cargo and would therefore be a capable mining ship - if class 3 mining lasers were a thing that is.

No, if anything a 51 million credit shield (7A) should produce more shield power than the current 306.
Even the post nerf Python will get more than 400 shield strength with a 15 million 6A Shield generator, and the Type 9 with a 7A gets just as much as the Clipper out of it.

You mean I should stop doing my three jump trade route because I need to scoop after each jump even though I totally don't (and I have an A rated drive)? Wow I didn't know I should do that!

It does have a small tank, I'll give you that, but if your route is bigger than the tank, you need a better route.

are you thinking of the imperial trader?

the engine pods also retract until they are almost touching the hull for landing, so hopefully it will fit in the letterbox!

never heard of a liberator before, but i'd enjoy some links if you can find some :)

I am sorry, you are correct. I was talking about the Imperial Trader. Been too long since I played Frontier.

In that case, they need to bring back the Imperial Trader. We need it to sneak about the Federation destroying their interceptors and attacking communication bases. It won't feel the same if it doesn't have some resemblance to the Liberator.

The Hunter. Give it to me.

(For scale, you can see the front nav panel in the window. Looks to be medium-small.)

Where did you find this image? It does look great.

Is this a confirmed ship? Or did it become the Imperial Fighter?

It would be nice to have another fighter around the price and size of the Viper and Cobra. Make warzones a three way fight rather than the 2 ships you always see.

Please, just because you don't like how a ship is, does not mean that the ship should be nerfed or buffed, instead of just stating demands, you should try giving examples and stating questions as to what you feel is off about it, that is something frontier can look at and decide if or if not is an issue, just saying boost this that and this to this, when you have absolutely no idea what the balance should be. Is just....yeah..

Try to explain why you feel it doesn't live up to its name. You have to remember though, like the python and in general through history, while specialized crafts have had their place and all, it is usually the all round vehicles in the hands of a good pilot that because they cover a lot of things fairly well, stand up to the test of time and become feared.

The clipper deserves to eat Federation cannon fire. Some happily fed ones are scattered amongst the couple systems I frequent.

Fed stations selling Clippers? I could see some being sold in Independents (illegally obtained, refurbished etc) but the Federation?

I guess it only goes to prove, they have to resort to using Clippers as their own ships are a third (1/3) as good.

I never said i bought them or that they were being flown by federation pilots... Imperial npcs have been known to enter certain sectors controlled by federation space. Some have never made it out.

So what am I saying? Imperial Clippers are simply the best ship that the galaxy has ever seen, and thus, require better stats.

So what you actually are saying is that the Clipper is NOT the best ship in the galaxy, but that you want it to be the best ship in the galaxy and therefore want it's stats buffed? :)

Currently flying a Clipper myself. I think it is a good ship, but just like you I wish I could retract the external engine pods so I could land on medium pads.
It would be great to see a ship in the game that can alter its dimensions that way. If there is one thing I'd wish for the Clipper... that is it.
I think this could be a cool feature that is unique to certain imperial models.

An extra central hardpoint (medium) would not be that weird considering it's size, but it will never happen.
