Imperial Clippers - What Weapons Do You Use?

Just got my shinny Clippers! (yeah!) and i will drive her for really a long time, but have no idea what's the best weapon loadouts for this beauty, the only experience i got from asp or cobra is fit as much as possible the multi-cannon.. I have to say it works superisingly well on Clippers, but i wanna move forward and make a change, So any advice? Really appricaite it in advance!

by the way, clippers gots 4 hardpoints, 2 large and 2 medium... in case you forget it:D

Most people will probably say that turrets are a waste, but I've found them excellent short range weapons with an outstanding firing arc - But it does require a lot of situational awareness AND frequent switching back & fourth of the turret modes, otherwise you will find them hitting non-hostile targets.

I'm still saving up for 2x Beam Laser turrets for the medium hardpoints, so my overall load is currently:

1x Plasma Accelerator (Class 2)
1x Railgun (Class2)
2x Burst Lasers (Class 3)

'Shinny clippers' sounds like something you'd take your dog to the Vet for. LOL :D

I'm slowly saving up for one of those things though. I think I want both a Clipper and a Python, though. They're two of the best looking ships I've seen thus far. The clipper because it's just BA, and the Python because it's a mini star destroyer (and because it's a lot cheaper than the Anaconda!).

One thing you can always have is a Lot of Money to cover Insurance. So it not one of them Boo hoo treads I lost this or that.

It going to depend on what you are going to do. But stay away from Turret.

Now mulicannon find out how much it cost per bullet.

My current combat loadout for the Clipper:
4x Class 2 gimballed multicannons
or (depending on how I'm feeling)
2x Class 3 gimballed cannons
2x Class 2 gimballed cannons

I'm taking out Anacondas left, right, and center. Multicannons absolutely tear through subsystems, plus ammo is freakin cheap. Don't even bother putting fixed weapons on the Class 3 hardpoints though because they're on the wings and way too far apart (fix it Frontier).

So you can hit Cobras and Vipers with all 4 hardpoints when you use gimballed? I need confirmation, in Beta 3 this did not work and I forgot about the Clipper

I'm still only using my Imperial Clipper for trading (to afford all the Equipment goodies I've set my eyes on)
But was considering a couple of plasma accelerators (and maybe a couple of miniguns as well?) Have no real experience with the plasma weapons (or to be frank ,weapons at all as I've mostly lived the "safe" life of a trader :)

I've just been through a few fights in my new bling Clipper so far, but I think gimballed weapons works fine on the large hardpoints on the wings. Fixed weapons are probably useless on them though.

If you haven't used PA before, you might want to reconsider the goal. The damage is very nice, but, well.....

Have you ever seen the movie Austin Powers? The scene with the steam roller slowly approaching the henchman. There's a solid 2 minutes for him to step out of the way but he just sands there screaming "nooooooooo". That is what would be required to hit someone with a Plasma Accellerator. Even when you are Right. on. Top. Of. Them. They will twist and the bolts will slowly drift off into the distance. Unless of course a sys auth ship is in the background, they're SURE to hit him.

That sounds about accurate hahah.
I'm using 2xC3 Beams and 2xC2 Rail Guns. What can I say? I take down condas and pythons in 1-2 minutes depending how well I aim the rails. But the Clipper man.. feels like a small ship so maneuverable so aiming them rails doesn't seem to be that hard. I love it :D

I am running the best gimballed beam lasers I can find with a A class Power Distributor. Conda's are shield wiped and them power unit killed within about 2 mins if that.

Other ships under Cobra are dead with one full weapons bank discharge from full shields. Fairly cheap weapons too and of course no ammo cost.

Lol, that's actually a great way to explain it. (as I did get my plasmas and try them out) . I Guess I remembered the Heavy-plasma accellerators of old where , one strafe-hit tend to kill most everything.
.
So called gimballed lasers worked great

Does anyone have a screenshot of the Clipper hardpoint placement crosshair dots? I'm still saving up for one, but it would be nice to know in advance what their aim is like and what I can plan to put on it.

I currently use 2 x medium gimballed beams and 2 x large burst laser turrets with an A class power distributer. As previously noted, you need some special awareness so you can try and keep the turrets on target (they are on the top), but they work fantastically well. I'm just in the process of upgrading the turrets to large beam turrets and will get the second one tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Clipper copes with the extra load of these (or possibly not as the case may be) :)

Where exactly are the class 2s located? so railguns work on those?

Class 2 hardpoints are underneath, in the region of the wings but set in the main body :)
