Imperial Corsair!

Modelling after this. Fast nimble scout with a penchant for short ranged fast firing weapons. Still WIP. Saving progress.

The corsair is designed as a pirate ship by the empire to combat it's enemies during war. It was designed to help disrupt trade in enemy territory and specifically designed to follow and hunt cargo vessels while acting as a potential intermediate assault ship during fleet activities.

This ship could be unranked like the eagle to make it more unique. Or have a special rank access fitting of it's pirating intent.

This could also be a triple set of imperial ships like the other factions have. Maybe with different weapons layouts. Or instead of 3 ships maybe there are only two variants. The LLL(9) and LMMS(8) version or something. layouts that don't override the other smaller ships.

One of my hopes is that this ships manoeuvrability would allow it to reproduce real world ship vs ship tactics and manoeuvres.

(H=4; L=3; M=2; S=1.) Weapons should equal 8 or 9. 8 being more accurate to the pattern of current imperial ships. 9 being accurate to how Sc corsair had two plasma ball rapid fire/focus like weapons and a torpedo special with 4 shots at one time. IE a size 3 large torpedo launcher with disruption abilities(200energy/50=4 shots!). Obviously small weapons may be better for piracy. Not sure which route is better. It could be a pirate ship based on large quick disabling abilities.

There could also be several versions. A large version with 3xL hardpoints and a medium version with 4xM hardpoints. They could have slightly different stats if needed. No idea what they would be. Maybe the large version has a size 3 fuel tank where the medium has a size 4 fuel tank or similar. Although I assume you could simply put on a size 3 missile weapon to deal with things like small ship modules. And anything small enough to matter cand possibly be quickly hatch breaked.

iCorsair 3xL Combat Pirate <- Some items like the armor represent two items and have double stats where possible. Also set to speed 270 with boost 400. Hull is also accurate while shield is not. I estimate around 250-300 shields with a 2A Prismatic and those boosters.
iCorsair 3xL combat Pirate 2 <- A more aggressive build. Still haven't figured out shields. It's probably near the same EHP as the armor.

Make it look as much like an Imperial vulture as possible potentially:

I like the one on the bottom left hand corner. Although they are all interesting. Make it as close to the SC corsair maybe?! the right side ones look a bit like the vulture. Maybe a joke about the ship being modelled after something as ugly as the vulture?! At least from gutamaya standards.

Actually the Vulture and Corsair look very similar.

Original Corsair also looks very imperial to start with: (And oddly zerg... which would be a fantastic pirate ship!)

Maybe take the middle rear of the Carrack and add the engines to the back like the SC corsair and make forward wings like the SC corsair and make it look like the vulture/courier after that. 8) It could be a shrunken down and slightly thinned out cutter body with wings like the corsair. Make it look organic combined with wood/bone/sales/wings.

Possibly dimentions: (double iEagle)
Height: 14.2m
Length: 62.4m
Width: 69.4

The wing tips would be like the eagle but would be more centered as to allow focusing with fixed weapons. With two of the large weapons.

Not sure about those stats, but I love the name, "Imperial Corsair".

With a name like that though, I feel like it should have a hardpoint spread that's more Chieftain and less Vulture - spread it out over a variety of smaller hardpoints, rather than just all in larges.

Maybe like, one large, two medium, and two or four smalls.

I like the combat build so far It can get a very light mode with light weight weapons and use the 3A enhanced engines if desired.!! >< (Although this is not better than the 4A's.. I was mistaken in that regard.) The speed could be toned down. But I don't know if it needs to be.

Light Weight 3A attack <- Not sure if there is a point to this or not...
iCorsair Max Speed <- 473-642
iClipper Max Speed <- 507-642

iCorsair Max Jump <-59.65ly max.
iCorsair Max Jump <-68.41ly absolute max.

I bow to your nerd-prowess in your ship-building hobby. :) That's super-cool.

Where would this design be OP?

Layout Example: iCorsair 3xL combat Pirate 2 <- Armor is accurate to the corsair stats. Speed is not. Neither are shields. I think this setup at 2 pips to SYS should have equal EHP to shields as the armor. 1350 approx for both thermal and kinetic. Some modules are combined as the courier has too few internal slots.
Stock Imperial Corsair <-Armor is correct. Shields should be 299mj base. Speed is a little off. Wake scanner represents the extra 100t base hull weight. Last 4 cargo should be from two size 1 modules.

If I did a different hardpoints layout it might be:

L
M
M
S

Large on top or bottom. Mediums on wing points and small on top or bottom opposite of the large.

This layout could be a second version, possibly with slower base speed(270?), and named the Corsica! Other things could be changed to make it fly, maneouver, and feel as much like an actual sea base pirate ship as possible. I'm way off on the base speed though. The Corsica should be like a sea vessel. The Corsair should be like the corsair from star craft or a naval plane or something. Corsair potentially being primarily more for fleet operations over piracy. Corsica for piracy primarily.

Imperial Corsica! <- PackHounds represent two modules and have double stats.

If a third model were made I would probably make it 4xM (mediums). The optionals could vary a little also per model if needed along with other stats. The third model could be named the Corse!

At which point there was a short lived or only partially made american fleet made up of very big wooden vessels from the 1800's. Not sure if this is one of them

I'm up for any new ship that isn't a slightly modified version of an already existing ship.... An imperial ship would be cool. Maybe something combat oriented, comparable to the FDL.
