The original 250 California was one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. Totally handcrafted. The new is only the serialized entry-level, the worst in a lineup of uninspired cars. I speak as a Ferrari fan!
But the meaning of my previous post wasn't to decide which of the two (couriers or cars) is better. Simply put: the two are completely different spacecraft that casually shares the same name, exactly as the two cars. Period.

I do understand your point though with regard to ships. I'm not a fan of the new or the old one to be honest. The big round pointy nacelles do absolutely zero for me on the old one, a bit 1950's Flash Gordon'esk but I am not too keen on what they did with the new one all be told. The courier would have looked better with proper wings and the nacelles on the ends more akin to angled stabilizing hulls rather than the two square section sausages. Again just my preference though.

In reality, rounded nacelles are perfectly logical - all rockets has a circular cross section.
The big spike sounds silly and in my reimagined model i've omitted it. But it can have some sort of explanation if we assume that the nacelles are big Bussard-type ramjets.

Holy Thread Revival - but my god is that courier concept in the Opening Post by Zaptruder absolutely breath taking. Please please pretty please can somebody make that a ship thing in the game?

Andrew77 those ships are stunning, I loved the 'Trader in FFE and before that FE2 but its really nice to see them remoddelled with curves rather than triangles.

Yep really nice, sadly all calls to bring it into game or get a redesign have fallen on deaf ears. Shame as it was probably the main reason I bought the game. Courier and Clipper just aren't the same, nice ships just not the courier most of us grew up flying.
