Imperial Courier to Cobra Comparison Table

Ignoring my disappointment in the Imperial Courier in Elite Dangerous I put together a Google Spreadsheet with the information I could find to help people compare to the Cobra

Interestingly in everything I can find, in Elite 2 / 3 / OOLite the courier was better (and more expensive) in almost every way.
There is an issue in that in 2/3 I think it only had a single front laser. Food for thought.

Courier is the superior combat ship on paper, but it's not very fast. It has significant more power available as well. It's also cheaper. I'm really looking forward to it.

Its not cheaper though the Cobra is cheaper its Military is cheaper. im pretty sure.

you've piloted it and didnt enjoy it? the cockpit alone keeps me coming back to it, even had some pvp with another CMDR in a courier, it sounds awesome as well, nothing at all like a cobra.

That's on paper. In the real world a Cobra could dance around an courier and shred it because of the Courier's excessive size and weight compared to the Cobra.

What is that data?

Courier have ~396 on maxed boost and other stuff, and range is about 16 on maxed A3 FSD.

The Courier is *really* nice. I've never flown anything like it and I can't quite put my finger on it but it has something about it that you can't see on paper.

There is some kinda obvious stuff like loading A shield boosters (talking 3 minimum or even 4)...which works *amazingly well*...but even after that the ship performs far beyond expectations. I've been trying to make a video all day but the patch is a bit broken and buggy, so maybe tomorrow you'll see it in action.

With 3x A boosters shields are 544 :) But ship is very sensitive to mass, and better powerplant, cellbank or weapons will cause drastically top speed and fsd range decrease.
You need to choose between speed/range and shields in straight line.
