Ships imperial courier vs vulture

This is a thread to discuss the differences between the imperial courier and the vulture. personaly I like the imperial courier more because first it fa off mode pitch seems to be better, it has more fire power and it is faster than the vulture these attributes paired with the practically infinite power lats you make a fighter with 550mj of shield and more fire power than the vulture. Pluse it looks better then the flying tin can they call the vulture.:)

It has much less firepower than vulture, with 3 medium hardpoints instead of 2 large and class 3 power distributor instead of class 5.
Other than that yes, i prefer courier too, but vulture is good ship too. Lets say they are different and have different strengths and weaknesses.

I absolutely love the Vulture, and it is far from slow. Mine has a boost speed of 394 so I don't have to worry about too many things out running me. I've stuck with running just 2 E3 G Pulse Lasers and those puppies can fire for SO LONG, despite the DPS I find sniping power plants on ships like Pythons and Anacondas hilariously easy. Not to mention how fast you shred small/medium size ships. Haven't flown a Imperial Courier, was thinking of getting one but I didn't much care for the Eagle so I'm skeptical about a ship with only Medium HP's.

The imperial courier has about the same fire because a medium hard point is worth about 1.5 small hardpoints and a large is worth about 2.25 smalls. the advantage that the imperial courier has is that it can mount a rail gun in addition to two pulse lasers letting it do about the same amount of dmg to shields as the vulture and more to the hull ( two good rail gun shots and devastate an anacondas power plant.

The class 3 distributor means that even though the hard points are equivalent, you cannot maintain as much sustained dps as the Vulture. The courier can achieve higher burst damage such as you mentioned regarding the rail gun set-up, but the recovery time between bursts is the limiting factor due to the small distributor.

Vulture has better firepower, bigger power distributor, better turning rate and maneuverability, less problems with heating (courier heats up way too much) and it's hull can take more punishment. Vulture is definitively a better fighter. That didn't stopped me though from turning in my vulture and changing it for courier. You are paying smaller insurance fee, it's better looking than vulture and the sound it makes is awesome. And most important, i'm having so much more fun in it :p

I am going to be dead honest and admit I own both, but my poor courier loses every time I want to enter a CZ or do some bounty hunting. Sustained firepower and heat management is just not good enough, so my Courier has been reduced to - well - a courier; configured for max jump-range and just enough cargo space for smaller transport jobs. I just cannot justify choosing the Courier over the Vulture as a fighter when the Vulture clearly performs better of the two in battle.

Vulture is some "P-47".
Imperial Courrier is a more a "Spitfire" (less manoeuvrability, but as it has better speed and accelreration/decceleration, he is more nimble than the Vulture).

Vulture is a excellent attack ship, Imperial Courrier is an excellent fighter.

Big ships are a Vulture job, small fighters are a Imperial Courrier job.

And for me too, Imperial is much more fun (as Spitfire is more fun even if it is more limited than a P-47).
Sold my Vulture without regrets.

Courier will not be too good for res/cz farming because you absolutely have to use kinetic weapons because of small power distributor, and you will run out of ammo. Also kinetic weapons will solve overheating issues.
Big advantage is its size, it is really hard to hit with weapons like PA, and if you add chaff it can be very tough.
Experimented a bit with condas in SSS, even with all those dumb piloting mistakes i still consistently succeeded. And i lost few vultures already trying to do the same in vulture. Vulture is big enough for NPC-s to hit with those class 4 PA from behind...
So i guess choice depend a lot on personal preference and what you are going to do, but courier definitely can be good in combat.
