Yeah, I'd imagine the cutter is what we're calling the imperial trader now - it was basically just a bigger version of the courier back in the day.

I'm hoping it will be a counter to the Corvette actually. It would kind of suck if the Feds are the only ones who get a giant gunboat (I'm not counting the Conda as it's multi-role).

The Clipper's files in game are called 'Empire Trader'.
The Cutter was mentioned in a lot of the books and mentioned in newsletters and is regarded as a large ship, I believe newsletter 7 says it is a 'corvette' size ship. The old Imperial Explorer was the large (Anaconda+ size) ship in the Imperial series.
The Imperial Cutter appear in Elite:Legacy and whilst never described visually, they are large enough to carry two Imperial Fighters, so suggest they are Corvette sized
It'd be cool also if the Corvette and the Cutter weren't just gunboats with differents skins. Would be cool, for example, to have more maneuverability with the Cutter while having less shields/firepower, and the Corvette would have superior firepower but would steer like a T9, and would fry anything dumb enough to stay in its line of sight.
Im thinking the Courier might have a rear second pilot in another sub section of the ship.

I would like to finally see a Gutamaya ship with great combat capability (instead of giving it more speed, less shields and firepower), something they are apparently known for, yet so far we get multi-roled ships. Not to mention giving the Cutter more speed + less firepower and shields really wouldn't do it many favours, speed for what? You're a huge support ship, where are you going so fast, to leave the battlefield?
