Imperial Currier, are the pros worth the cons?

I know some of you use one and I was wondering if you thought the more enjoyable planetary flight made up for the range and scooping limitations?

I'm outfitting for the Cassiopeia Project, it'll be the longest I've ever been out. The pace of the expedition's itinerary has been set pretty slow and I'm concerned about running out of things to do while I wait for checkpoint dates.

Lately I've really been enjoying canyon running and thought that this would be a fun distraction activity to break up the monotony, but my trusty Asp X is not quite graceful enough to suffice.

Those of you who have taken out a currier, did you think it was worth it? If yes any advise on loadout/operation.

Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere I couldn't find it. Most threads about an exploration Curriers are focused on economy builds. Money and Engineer access aren't really a concern for me.

I think no other ship has such racing abilities and still offer that much internals...
Even with SRV, enhThrusters, and full Boost (Engine focused PD) it should jump around 34 Ly with g5 FSD...
Spend it a Clean Drive Thruster Mod and also scooping isn't that bad anymore

Great little Toy, imho :)

This.
And it has one of the best Vr's cockpit view in the game. Very interesting for exploring.

Oh, definitely. The Courier is one of the most rewarding ships to mod, and is probably the best ship for planetary exploration. Great cockpit view (although the Asps have slightly better visibility, but with more struts), excellent forward/boost speed, and its small size means you can land nearly anywhere. With modding, you can get plenty out of it, and scooping can be made much better with low emissions power plants.
Also, maybe it's just me, but it's quite good to explore inside a small ship. Makes you feel even smaller when you're out in the black.

For some example modded builds and their jump ranges, check this thread: it currently has three Courier builds in it.

Thanks for the replys. I think I'm going to go for it.

If I get out there and don't like it, I can always just come back and swap it out for the Asp. The expedition is running through till the new year, so thered be plenty of time.

Putting together a New build is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game for me anyways.
