Imperial cutter good and the bad let's hear/read it

Hey guys thinking of grinding to get a cutter in place for when Horizons land, what is cutter good for and what is it bad at? I don't ever plan or see it being A graded as the costs are astronomical but I would like one for trading and to show off when we get horizons 😄. I just would just like your opinions on the ship good and bad?

In terms of trading, I can pull off 720 cargo while still having a c6 shield and c3 fuel scoop with over 13.5ly jump range fully laden, basically pulling 3m per run and in a 4 man wing of cutters it gives about half a mil on trade dividends among everyone.

As for combat, the way I look at is, it has a smaller power distributer which is one of the reasons people hate it for combat but all that means is cut back on the amount of energy weapons you're using a bit and use some kinetic weapons in the mix to counterbalance that issue, next issue people hate is the turning ability, but in exchange for crap turning it has a bit less than 100 more boost speed over the conda AND corvet, a stock non upgraded cutter with E8 thrusters is faster than a maxed out a graded vette and conda, also the fact a cutter can never be mass locked by any ship in the game except another cutter which is really nice, it is also currently the only ship in the game that can reliable still do SOME combat with class 8 prismatic shields, the type 9 being the only other ship in the game that can mount those shields at that class, meaning the cutter has the strongest shields in the game.

As for mining and exploration, it has 64t fuel with a decent jump range so it's not the greatest but with that c8 slot for a fuel scoop and the default huge fuel tank I can see it good for honking, as for mining I hear mixed reviews on that.

It's great for trading and for crashing into things at high speed...and I wouldn't go landing one on many HiG worlds when Horizons hits :)

Thrusters are a misused term on the Cutter, since they barely move it. It's a bit like farting against a wall...neither you nor the wall will move much no matter how much effort you put into it [where is it]

The ramming is insanely fun in a chicken fight, instantly kill an annies shields and 30% of the haul or one shot smaller ships while you loose only 1 ring lol, as for the thrusters she moves fast in a straight line but slow to turn or stop, but if you're being chased and you cannot out turn the guy just take advantage of the 340-366 boost and pull a FA off 180 turn then while you're still drifting backwards at 320+ boost you are still gaining distance on a conda or vette so you can open fire while flying backwards.

That's really helpful thanks, can you explain trading in a ship of that size I noticed not all stations have enough resources, I currently have a Conda but even I couldn't figure how to trade in a ship which has more cargo space the station has resources?

Also do you know what system I can buy a cutter for discounted price how to trade in a ship that big?

PS MoleHD LMAO farting against a wall 😂

The Cutter is really best used as a 1 or 2 jump Imperial slave trader to make best use of the profits. Systems like LFT 37 to buy Imperial slaves and sell at either Nabatean or LTT 9795. You can make 3.5k profit per tonne on the slaves (which in a 728t Cutter amounts to 2.5Mcr+ profit per load)... a few hundred K creds running crop dusters or marine equipment back.

Your best bet for a discounted Cutter is in Denton Patreus space...he offers 10% discount on all Imperial ships. There's no Cutters at all in Li Yong-Rui systems... I've tried a few of the likely culprits, but to no avail. Aside from Denton Patreus, you'll need access to Shinrarta Dezhra for any discounted Cutter...and you need Elite ranking for that :(

From what I gather it's the non-combative endgame ship. Corvette is for combat, Cutter is for trading (and possibly exploration), and the Anaconda is the jack of all trades.

I mean, you *could* use the Cutter for combat, but even the ship's description says it's less weapon-based than its Federal counterpart.

Doesn't matter to me though, Empire all the way and I'm gonna get it eventually no matter what. :p

I ended up getting my cutter like 2 months ago or so when they discounted it by 30% by accident and it costed 146m, now the best you're going to get is 188m for now, as for trading you do NOOOOT need a docking computer, it's not hard to manually dock all your ships which on the cutter takes away from precious cargo space, as for trading you just need to find a decent trade route that sells imperial slaves for about 12.6-12.8k credits and bring it to a system that buys them 1 jump over for at least 16-17k credits a pop to really start profiting

That all depends how you use it though, as I stated above to offset the distributor issue just mount a few less energy weapons and use some kinetics, bam problem solved, as for turning speed you gain a metric sheet ton of raw boost speed and the strongest shields in the game currently.
