Why won't FD release paint packs for the imperial eagle?

Weak after weak after weak they release paint pack after paint pack, every ship has at least 3 now, even fighters and srv but still the Imperial Eagle hasn't even got a single pack!

It's the fastest, most zoomiest ship in the game. Sucker's been dying for a red PJ and 'go faster' stripes since Enhanced engines got introduced.

Just look how dejected she looks compared to her slutty sister who keeps getting all the attention!

There's a whole bunch of iEagle skins in the files, they've been there for a long long time. But no sorry can't have them.

The Imperial Eagle was introduced to the game 6th October 2015. And in a year's time when they do get round to releasing skins, no doubt it will be the incredibly dull Vibrant, Military and Tactical packs.

In 5 years time just before they turn off the servers you might see something good.

Oh yeah the Red Crimson Eagle is good, this was made when skins were great, right at the start.

Before the skin drought and the following 2 year "vibrant period", where (presumably) marketing started doing their thing and ruining everything.

It's just you're not allowed to buy them, you have to have two years of waiting because that's good marketing and you'll be more likely to buy it then. [rolleyes]

I'm expecting the same with the CMDR flight suits, show a load off at the start so you can say "oh I want that one", then make folk wait for years.

Nah, they'll wait for space legs before releasing the best suits, after you've seen the NPCs walking around in them for a year or two.

for some reason there's a ridiculous number of paint packs for the "starter ships" especially considering the fast progression we have nowadays. We need a lot more paint packs for the large and medium ships .

Yes I get it, yes I sympathise to a point but seriously we've had these threads for months now. "Why are these 5 ships the last to get paintjobs?" "Why are these 4 ships the last to get paintjobs?" etc etc etc
Now we are down to 1. It will come, just be patient. There isn't a particular reason like a conspiracy where they said that "Blaize Meduenin really likes the imperial eagle lets punish him for it". It's probably marketing figures and just lucky dip. 2/3 weeks ago the 2nd to last ship got paintjob packs. Odds are the Imp Eagle will get some in the next month.


Personally I'm more interested in the things that apply across all ships like engine colours and decals. I'd rather have 1 of those than 10 paintjob packs. I get your point and I do sympathise to a degree but I think Martian was on the money when he said you are asking for reason where there is none

I think its because the ship isnt very popular or its a stepping stone ship which people dont tend to invest real money into. At least not enough for it to be worth Fdevs time to impliment into the game.

To me, that logic would apply to the Sidewinder and Eagle (which both have skins and ship-kits available) but I don't think it applies to the iEagle.

The iEagle is a ship that you only gain access to by ranking-up with the Imp's so chances are you'll have progressed quite a bit in the game before you can buy one.
In that case (assuming most people are like me), you buy an iEagle 'cos you want the "full set" and the entire ship is a "vanity item".
And people do spend money on vanity items.

The IEagle is also appealing to people who enjoy recreational minmaxing. Since no other ship can match its theoretical boost speed.

I built mine for that purpose, but lately I've actually been using it more and more as an engineering material hunter.

Most of the iEagles that get sold are probably bought by people who want them rather than need them.
And people are probably going to be willing to spend money on things they have obtained through choice rather than than necessity.
