Ships Imperial Eagle variant missing some imperial style.

I'm pretty sure we've all seen these concept arts of the imperial variant of the eagle, I just wanna make sure the devs can see that they're forgetting the natural imperial style of most imperial ships - The cockpits!

What we've seen before in concepts

And what we're getting

Notice how the actual ship is missing the typical imperial style canopy?

When I look at it I generally don't enjoy its design, so I believe they nailed that 'Imperial' flavor.

If its adapted, then there is no problems with this at all.

In real life this happens, esp with fighters. Consider the Dassault Mirage, IAI Kfir and Atlas Cheetah, all based on the Mirage but with subtle differences.

It's not an imperial design, is just been adapted. It should look like a mash-up IMO.

Hit the nail on the head. It is an adapted piece of tech so its going to bear some resemblance to the original while having a distinct Imp taste to it, as it does.

It has been separated from the core dynamics version of the Eagle for over 100 years! Besides, a changed cockpit canopy would only affect aesthetics, it's not like Gutamaya would have to start over from scratch just because they wanted to add an Imperial-looking canopy.

Also, an Imperial cockpit canopy would look better. Also, it would look Imperial. I might be wrong, but I would expect an Imperial ship to look Imperial.
Even if we change the canopy, add Imperial striping on the hull and more rounded hull sides, the ship would still look like an Eagle.

I suppose the question is, why would they bother. If they were going to make that level of change, they might as well design a new ship from scratch.

I'd imagine, the thinking would be that there less changes made, the more parts that would be interchangeable. Given there popularity, being able to interchange parts with a standard eagle would cut maintenance costs considerably.

Perhaps thinking a bit deeply though! :)

I agree, this currently looks like a welded together thing that only came out recently, but lorewise this thing should look like the original concept, which has a very nice imperial canopy touch, I can still 100% tell that it's a variant to the eagle anyway.

/shrug

Honestly I don't get the whole imperial ship love, even though the picture seems pretty faithful to the E2 model.(as much as it can) I always thought the Clipper looked like a mix modern day commercial airliner(not cool) and a bedroom aid for women.(not my thing) The clipper is like a sharp Star Trek shuttle from TNG.

+1

Looks fine as it is not an original Gutamaya design, nor was it billed as such. It is a "version 3.0" Eagle, modified and improved upon. I do expect it to have a more classic Gutamaya interior, however.

I agree, the canopy is not imperial style. IMO, it is a mistake not having redesigned it, since now the ship will give the impression of being a simple re-skin.

For example, without being a total re-desing, this canopy was 'imperialish' enough.
