Imperial / Empire Rank progression seems... easy??

You get progression missions once you start getting friendly (things are green) with Empire-aligned factions (the ones that control stations). After that, bounce around a bit. They pop up left and right.

Progression at this point is super easy. It's probably because the missions are procedurally generated and missions don't have much depth at the moment.

Unless something has changed, this is incorrect as I was UNFRIENDLY all the way up to Viscount.

I'm stuck at Baron and have been for about two weeks.

Not one other mission has appeared since.

I've been traveling all over the empire and to various different stations / economies

I'm friendly with the Empire, allied and friendly with a number of stations.

But still no other ranks........

ah well. I'm mainly trading at the moment as I'm trying to get enough for either a T7 or a Clipper so ill keep at it.

Ill try to get allied with the Empire to see if this helps..... :S

I have exactly the same problem. It's most likely a bug since I encounter the same problem in Federation. It's maybe related to our "FRIENDLY" state.
Concerning the Empire, I'm stuck at LORD. I already made a ticket since some guys are "PRINCE" and I c'ant even reach "BARON".

definition of pirate

Turns out it appears anything that has a Wanted Bounty in Empire Jurisdiction counts as a Pirate..

Are you sure about this? I think a pirate is anyone that scans you and then attacks or complains you aren't worth bothering with. These ships can be either clean or wanted locally, but will have a wanted status in some jurisdiction, which might not be Empire.

wheres a good system to start getting these missions?

Hi Cmdr,
first i have to say that i understand the urge to not let anyone see you dock, hence solo play :-D
Seriously, it is harder not to progress rank than becoming the leader of the universe yourself.
I got these kind of missions in most of the empire affiliated systems but keep in mind the economical diversity to sometimes gain new missions is needed. I for one would seek high populated empire systems and do bulletin board missions by the way to make more money in the process and to get new rank missions.
But then again, as this thread shows, experiences differ.
Good luck and hail the Emperor

edit
Or hail whatever you want as long as it's not the federal scum ;-)

My input to the "relative ease" with ranking missions is a bit of frustration. Trading and courier ranking missions are readily available but have yet to see a Naval Progression mission since 1.06. Been ranked Serf since mid-January just made Master yesterday. I have been doing the courier and trade missions for system faction ranking so I have been working at it, so to those who say its easy pack a bag of sand and take a hike.:rolleyes:

It is thanks to those who feel progression is too easy only focus on that portion bung it up for those who choose a different route to rank up. But this is just MY opinion.

I went from Outsider to Squire in about 8 hours of play, just running trade and missions between 3-4 Empire different systems (Agri, Hi tech, Extraction and Refinery).

the kill the general mission was easily dispatched with a Viper.. all the others have been take goods here... etc..

will probably look to move to another area (find a similar cluster of planets) and rinse and repeat..

by the time i get to the Baron rank for the Clipper, I'll easily have enough for a kitted out python..

I ranked up to Master in Liaedin early in my game, didn't feel up to the kill missions at that point but was allied to local faction, still am. Since been trading rares and allied in home base which is a fed station, friendly with Feds due to res hunting and trading I reckon but still neutral with empire.
I now have nearly the money to buy and kit a clipper so took my cobra out of storage and headed back to Liaedin. Took a kill general mission and succeeded and ranked up to Squire, took another general kill mission and although i succeeded and completed the mission, no rank change. Still no Achenar summons and now no more missions :(. Flew to ngaiawang ( took ages in a cobra) and still no missions and no clippers for sale when I was there either.
I can try getting allied in another imperial system, but should I ticket the lack of Achenar permit or the lack of progression for the last clipper kill?

Currently I view the rank progression missions as a real wasted opportunity to flesh out the military side of E: D. Would have been nice to have a range of delivery, propaganda, patrol, covert spying (photography), covert strike, deep strike, control (e.g. we'll raise you a rank if you and your friends can destabilise this federal system to the point of war in 100 hours - bonus for doing it in less time) and full on fleet action missions. Oh well, here's to a reset or future expansions.

I'm sure it's coming... it's why I haven't done any rank missions yet at all.

I mean if it could be done in Frontier and FFE, it can be done in ED right?

What the heck guy's? I am definitely doing this all wrong, started a topic about it yesterday. So far.. 2 day's ago I parked my Type-7 near Hip 22500, bought a Cobra.

Have been helping the Imperial Cap ship at the warzone, fighting Elite Anaconda's, hauling stupid amounts of Combat Stabilizers, non Lethal Weapons across 100LY for 'Rank Progression' I am still at Zero rank! :/

All I want is a damn Clipper, I have 60Million in the Bank.. I don't get how some of you progressed rank so quickly, mine is not moving : (

Rank progression doesn't appear to be affected by warzone participation and trade. I was able to rank up on non-combat missions only. I didn't take any missions that involved illegal activities (killing bounty hunters, killing traders, slave smuggling, military plan smuggling, etc). This got me to Baron so I could buy the clipper.

It is possible to rank up quickly by doing non-combat missions only. Actually, I typically took 1-2 missions at the first station. Then took 1-2 missions at the first station stop for first 1-2 missions. Kept doing this until I ranked up. Keep doing missions only for factions that have allegiance to the Empire. Once you get Allied to a faction, do missions for other factions that have allegiance to the Empire.

I'm having a hard time even finding systems with Imperial outposts, starting from LHS 3447... likely have to keep traveling farther toward Achenar?

The thing with empire progression is that the clipper is the only real worth while ship after the asp. I tried the type7 and it just sucked the life out of me,slow, cumbersome, no weapons, crap shields. The asp is much better. The next ship up from the asp or type 7 is the clipper. All others are towards the 30+ million credits Mark, the Price gap is pretty big there.
I for one am glad the ranking system is fairly easy.

The clipper offers the best balance vs combat and trading at the 22 million credit Mark. There are no other ships worth getting at this price point.
