Imperial Hammer

So I've made it to week 4 with Arissa and when I get back from Maia I'm going to be picking up a handful of Imperial hammers for a couple of my ships and some stock to have on hand. What is the best blueprints and effects for them?

Since they deal less damage per a shot and also since they are 3 rnd burst they probably generate extra heat as well.

Same for rails; long range with super pen or feedback.
Both of those experimentals now have a good heat reduction bonus; -40%.
They pair nicely with c1 rails in a 'Vette.
Makes for a very satisfying 8 shot burst!

Long Range is considered the best mod for Railguns. Rails lose so much damage over distance if they're not Long Range that other blueprints are considered not worth using outside of very specialized builds.

iHammers do generate substantially more heat than other rails. It's a little more damage if you land all three shots. You probably want one of the 'good' experimentals like Feedback, as the others introduced in the new patch don't come with a built-in thermal reduction, and they frankly don't compare in utility.

Thanks for the tips and advice. I just got back from Maia and loaded up my explora-conda with them and heading to McQuinn's now

How the hell does a railgun lose energy over distance?

Lasers, yeah... Gauss Cannons (needle cannons) yeah... Plasma, well yeah... But railguns and cannons? Ewww.. That's just poor (game) design.

The projectile comes a with hefty flight computer and reverski thrusters so as not to damage vessels that are innocently chugging along to work.

It's actually a good game design. ;)
I don't know why you find the idea of ships trying to snipe one another beyond visual range "fun"
