Imperial Mission: Kill General Davis

How?

I have done a bunch of assassination missions, but this guy bugs out at like 75% hull despite me targeting FSD from the start. Pretty frustrated after hunting him down twice and having no possible chance to stop him from jumping away. If it is expected to mass lock him then I hope the imps plan to provide me with a ship to do so LOL!.

Well I will give him one more go but IMO i am sick of USS at this point and aint no one got time to track a kill down 3 times for some rep.

NOWAY!

Found him he said lets finish this and STILL JUMPED AWAY!

Screw this mission so hard. ditched. Warning to others to not even attempt this one. Broken busted bugged to hell.

Frustrated enough I am done playing for now, what a disappointment and gut retching feeling to have wasted hours for nothing.

Sorry about that. All I can think off is you need to up your kill speed, better guns or layout or practice keeping them in your sights for longer.

When I met his Federal dropship, it was a fairly straightforward slugfest...

I kept my gimballed beam laser on full most of the time, added multi cannon when possible. Popped a few shield cells and targeted his power supply. Eventually it reached 0% and boom - I'm wanted and there's dozens of security ships after me in my Sidewinder with 48% hull left...

Qwick use of flight assist off, all pips to engines (still had a shield cell left), boost and super cruise to the nearest outpost to pay off the fine...

He could barley land a hit on me. If anything I was killing him too fast as it was only like 10-15 seconds before he was jumping away. In a cobra with C1 beams and C2 MC, he was in a clipper. I am in no way upgrading anything just to do a USS mission that is just poor design. I have killed hundreds of Dropships, Clippers and more and never experienced a problem being able to kill something is this way.

Get a wake scanner and follow him. That's how I got him.

Love to be able to equip a wake scanner and interdictor, got a couple slots to spare as my cobra is already stretched thin and all slots occupied.

Rule #1 A mission should never stress a player out and make them not want to play in this way. That is just terrible.

You're probably just too good - become really bad and he shouldn't be worth mentioning (I suck really hard at this game, but never considered the general assassination missions a problem).

Make sure you actually shoot him only when you got a clear shot at the FSD? If you spam him he got lots of hull damage and that increase the chance of him running (actually targeting his FSD increase his chance of running too).

I remember spamming the general using 6MC on my trading spec. Asp juri-rigged with whatever upgrades available at the local high tech station. He was in a Dropship though. That can be a solution (full MC / Plasma Accelerator / Railgun, set ups that focus on module damage)

If it's a Clipper, aim at one of the Drives - not the FSD. He'll collapse like a balloon getting hit by a pin.

If you wanna have some fun with a Clipper, fly backwards the hole time, down his shields and then go for his life support .-)

I did it by targetting the power plant, and using a lot of gun and dodge to keep my viper's shields up
wore the power plant down to 0% and he stopped dead.

Did'nt stop him firing at me when I moved in for the kill shot though....

<<dead chuffed he made 500 000 in one trade run today

Yea my problem was not doing dmg. It is that he jumps WAY early. I lined up behind him dropped his shields is like 5 secs and was pummeling hard as I could with a cobra right until he jumped away from 1k or less. Maybe a torp could have stopped him short of that I doubt plasma cannons would have even helped.

Anyway I ditched the mission, I am certain it is bugged. I personally refuse to do things that aggravate me in this way and will just move on. Its why I never beta/test games I consider it stressful and work.
