Imperial rank of serf. Takin a while

Just wondering if there is anything specific I'm not doing here, just ran about twenty five missions, across about 7 imperial systems, all for imperial minor factions, 3 differenet imperial minor factions. Is this not enough to get one Imperial rank mission? I just ended up with fed missions on my first day of playing without even knowing what was going on.

Anyone got some advice?

Run 10 or so (maybe more) missions for one faction at one empire station. Avoid rebel factions, just go with imperial values parties. Then when you get your promotion quest, do it, turn it in, then move to another empire station and do missions there.

only do missions for the same minor faction in a system, It is shown under the mission title, doing any missions at an imperial station can mean you're doing missions for the enemy, which has a sort of 2 steps forward 3 steps back effect.

Please, I've turned in over 400M Cr worth of combat bonds and bounties for the empire and im still sitting at Serf. Honestly the current progression system is buggered. Apparently the way to climb the naval ranks is to be a charity philanthropist instead of fighting the empire's enemies along with their navy

Are you doing it all at one system?
(Maybe combat bonds and bounties don't count for progression) The trick is to get allied status with imperial stations. Which means "more than one" imperial station - you have to move from station to station as you get allied.

Is there a time limit on the deal where we can get the clipper with serf rank ? I suspect I still got a number of missions to go to get from outsider to serf.

Please stop spreading wrong information. You don't have to be allied or move to different stations.

I noticed when I became allied through normal trading I got the first promotion mission. If I continue to trade will I gain rep and unlock the 2nd mission or do I have to do bulletin board missions ? T7 is not really cut out for missions not being able to dock at outposts so I bought a cobra just for the missions if necessary but would rather not fly it.

Interessting. I'm going to monitor your progress on this. By the way, i'm stuck at Lord since gamma :( I just want that next rank to finally go for the Clipper .

Heard about that charity mission thing, did a couple of hundred. Still nothing..

Do you remember if you had done any regular missions for Empire minor factions before the ascension opportunity popped up, or you only did trading for Empire?
