Imperial ranking. Is it meant to take this long?

I just finished a 90 minute burst of missions with some minor Imperial factions, did about 6 missions in that time, and working my way from Knight to Lord. After 6 missions I had only progressed 5%. Seems a bit thin to me, should it really be this long between ranks?

Also before anyone suggests it, no I'm not going to log in and out, or to solo and open, to cycle the mission board. To me, that's straight up cheating.

Apparently I have been doing the wrong type of missions. Mostly salvage and assassinations of wanted types. Supposedly I should be looking around for secret cargo jobs. Too bad I'm flying a FdL...

Yeah it takes a long time.

That's why the smart kids ranked up before 2.1 dropped, when you could get it done easier! ;)

It's going to take you a long time regardless of mission type. Most of these people running around in corvettes/cutters sat for hours logging in and out of the game to spam donation missions or whatever else fotm someone found (always involving that exit to menu / relog exciting gameplay).

It's FD's fault for allowing an action that can cut something from taking 100's of hours to one night of cheating...errr they call it "against the spirit of the game" not cheating right?

I've not seen a secret cargo mission since 2.1 dropped. Has anyone seen one?

I leveled up before 2.1 hit. The last couple of pre-Duke ranks took 400-600 missions for 100% completion, and before moving to the next rank. In other words, the missions contribute less the higher you go. So, from Knight to Lord that sounds about right - and yes, it'll take a LONG time especially now that mission stacking is limited to 20 and (apparently) mode switching is less "lucrative".

Remember that the higher standing you have with the Major Factions, the quicker reputation gain you will experiemce with Minor Factions allied with Major ones. So what seems very slow at the begining will become much more efficient afterwards!:)

I generally keep a cheap Cobra MK3 around for those specific types of missions. I sell it when I am ready to move stations.
