Imperial Ranking System Titles

Good day,

Just out of curiosity has it ever been suggested to implement female equivalent titles for imperial ranks? For example, the ranks of Baron, Duke, Prince and King are obviously linked to the male equivalent. I was curious if it would be possible to included "Baroness, Duchess, Princess and Queen" respectively.

I know it is but a small, mostly insignificant change and it is not my intent to spark some kind of debate, I simply thought it would be nice from a roleplay perspective for female characters.

Please disregard as a silly request if the time does not currently permit, I'm certain current Odyssey releases and fixes are significantly more important.

Thank you for your consideration,

Have a wonderful day,

Lumiria

There is a bit of weirdness with the gender specifics of imperial titles, You have princess Aisling, but the current Emperor is female. I just sort of figure they were being lazy. And, well, with lore it can be pretty hard to change lore once it has been established.
I don't really care if they were to alter titles to match the presumed sex of NPC or player characters. But.....with the world as it is right now, it is prolly better that they just leave it as it is and ignore anything to do with sex or gender. People get silly over it.

keeping them unisex makes things a lot simpler considering you can change your gender whenever.

My problem with the imperial ranks is they make no sense why is the imperil auxiliary using titles of nobility as their ranks.

"you have been our errand boy for two days and to show our gratitude you will now be referred to as king"

None
Outsider
Serf
dedicated
steadfast
connected
insider
Master
well known
renowned
respected
influential
honored
revered
Lord

a list more like this though better thought out (this was just done in about 2 minutes.) would be more realistic and fit the culture of the empire far better.

Maybe it a sarcastic title that most of us just haven't clued into. Or something to make us feel good. Kinda like job titles on business cards.

"Ya, go do these errands for us and we will call you... uh... KING! (giggle giggle) Now hurry up and move this bio waste. (more giigling and snickering behind your back)"

Yes many times but from the ancient days of the 20th century titles and roles were becoming gender neutral for example the term actor and of course Elizabeth Windsor was Duke of Lancaster and Lord of Mann.
By the 34th century this practice was the norm.

For more realism....

0 - None
1 - Slave
2 - Thrall
3 - Peasant
4 - Serf
5 - Peon
6 - Lackey
7 - Minion
8 - Errand-boy*
9 - Servant
10 - Attendant
11 - Retainer
12 - Assistant
13 - Person
14 - Imperial Citizen

*gender neutral when used with derogatory tone.

The problem of course is that there are already many unshaven, podgy, bald, older blokes sitting in their underwear at a computer, already calling themselves Princess Peasblossom-Candy online - letting them use distaff nomenclature in Elite would only serve to encourage them. ;)

In my own humble opinion I don't believe that matters?

They live their lives in the way they so desire and if it does not harms or encroach on another person's livelyhood, they can enjoy whatever they prefer.

My suggestion isn't limited to benefiting myself it can benefit whoever wants them, it was simply a request for the possibility of a change.

Ah, well yes but as I mentioned in the initial message, I have no intent to spark any kind of debate.

I simply enjoy the sound of those titles. As a poet has preferences for specific words, as a florist prefers a type of flower, such as a red rose vice a yellow orchid.

It is but my humble suggestion.

......

The winking smiley in my post was supposed to indicate that I was joking / being frivolous.

BTW - There have been suggestions in the past to provide for gender-based ranks - I don't think F D ever commented on them.
