So, I'd like to be able to go to Achnear, and I would like to sign up to the Imperial Navy and such as it looks like trouble's brewing story wise and I'd like to have some sort of role within the Imperial Military. The thing is, I really amn't having much luck raising my reputation with the empire via bounty hunting so... any advice on how best to go about joining the Imperial Navy?

Head over to Herthans to get your first military rank. It'll take some time and you'll eventually get a Navy Ascension mission. It'll ask for Combat Stabs or Personal Weps or similar and you'll have a small time frame to get them.
Herthans, got it. And is it worth finding some Combat Stabalizers and PErsonal Weapons before I head there?

Cool, thanks for allt he help guys. Made it to Herthans and saw Imperial Liason though it was unavailable because it only had 2 minutes left... Another question is are there any areas around imperial space people know of with conflict zones where I can start my "Work" as a naval pilot?
Head to Sorbago. There's a Slave Rebellion going on there (check the GalNet News, should be there at some stations). The Empire has sent two Capitol Ships to help support the locals.
