Imperial SERVANTS

Once again, I make the strong case that Imperial 'Slaves,' should be called Imperial SERVANTS, for that is what they are. Nobody is enslaving them. They sign a contact. They are Indentured Servants. Putting slave on the end is extremely misleading and has created far too many debates in the Empire about "morality" (whatever that is).
It would be perfectly within the Imperial Propaganda ministries machinations, and interests, to have Imperial 'Slaves' properly reclassified as Imperial SERVANTS.

What does the Galaxy think, Commanders?

I sell mine to the black market on a Federal science station 3LY away for max profit.
It's as bad as it sounds.
Imperial law only protects them in Imperial space and even then only in theory.
Abuse is rife. They're dependent on their masters who may not allow them to appeal.
It would also take a lot of allegations from many victims for the courts to take the word of a person who couldn't pay their debts.
Still not as bad as the Feds though. Or pirates.

The way they were treated by the Loren family in Prism - not sure "servant" is quite accurate enough

I personally would not call them servants. The model for Imperial slavery bears a striking resemblance to slavery in the Roman Republic and Roman Empire. Call them what you want, but they ARE slaves.
