Imperial ship with firepower?

I can't help but feel that the Imperial ships are somewhat left behind lately.

We have the Eagle, Courier, Clipper and Cutter.

Federation ships are the Dropship, Assault Ship, Gunship and Corvette.

How do these compare to the Imperial ones?

Well, both Eagle and the Courier don't compare at all so might as well leave those out. They are lower entry ships and the Courier really only compares with a Cobra at best.

Dropship - 13 mill, 1 large + 4 medium hardpoints, 7 internal modules, 4 utility
Clipper - 20 mill, 2 large + 2 medium hardpoints (same as the Assault Ship), 8 internal modules, 4 utility
Assault Ship - 19 mill, same hardpoints as Clipper, 6 internal modules, 4 utility
Gunship - 34 mill, 1 large + 4 medium + 2 small hardpoints, 5 internal modules, 4 utility

So the only imperial ship that even positions itself, somewhat, in the same categories is the Clipper.

Are we going to see some new, better armed/armored ships in the Imperial lineup around the same size category as the Gunship ?

With just an iEagle and Courier in the bottom of the lineup it feel it is severely lacking. For imperial pilots the only choice is Clipper (and no landing on outposts anywhere) or go to the "Common pool" and get FdL or Python... or simply give up on Empire and get Federation ships (thereby having to grind Federation rank).

There really needs to be a new imperial ship added, with a combat focus rather than multirole (Courier and Clipper are straight up multirolers). Less internal slots, more/bigger guns.

I think the way the Federal Naval and Imperial Naval vessels don't like up reflect a design ethos in the Game universe

The Core Dynamic Ships build for the Federal Navy are all Military Vessels as the Federal Navy is a fighting force

The Gutamaya Designed, ignoring the Eagle which is a Licence variant of the Mk.I, and its replacement the ISRF, are more Multi Role as they fill the Roles of the Imperial Navy but also the Senatorial Fleets used for Soft Power Projection. Hence why they are part combat part trade part liner

The Federation relies of Private corporations for that, so Core Dynamics can focus solely of ships with big guns so to speak.

They have different strengths. iShips are much faster, I don't find them lacking at all. As far as fighting goes a different style is required.

So imperial players should be stuck with an oversized and somewhat undergunned greyhound bus for their bounty hunting and undermining?

You can shake it any way you like, but currently there is only one ship in the same category as all three Federation ships and that is the Clipper. We are left without choice while Federation has 3 decent ships which can be used for bounty hunting and undermining, and the Dropship and Assault ship has enough space to fit them for a multirole purpose too if needed.

Empire needs more ships in this bracket (ships large enough to engage ships such as Gunships, FdLs, Pythons and so forth). Courier is too small to accomplish this. iEagle, while fun to fly, is more of a novelty than anything else. So we are stuck with "requires a large landing pad" and "easier to hit than the side of a barn while standing inside the barn" Clipper.

Need more options for Imperial ships.

I understand this.

But why do Empire only have one viable ship in the FdL / Python / Clipper / Assault Ship category?

For example, why is there no medium size Imperial ship in this category ?
