Implications of fitting an undersized FSD on Supercruise?

The far I know (tried it long time ago), it doesn't affect inter-system travel in the least - just that you can't hyperjump any further than you can toss a rock.

Thanks - my plan was tu use a properly sized A FSD and then refit to a snaller one to save weight once in the destination - just wanted to make sure I won't end up spending hours in supercruise (otoh, I could have just tried).

Only affects your jump range. With undersized FSD it will be stupidly low.

Go to outfitting, select the undersized one, but don't buy it and in the right summary screen you will see how the jump range would be affected if you were to buy it. Same goes for all equipment.

I believe the class/quality of your FSD drive is factored into interdictions as well.

I just use ED Shipyard for checking these things and I know how it affects Hyperspace range, hence I pointed out that I know that bit in the OP. (Now for some reason, reading this sounds annoyed - I'm not and grateful for your help nonetheless :)).

Now this is something I'd like to know more about - would you remember the source by any chance?

This is actually a really good idea. If bounty hunting, go to an anarchy system, replace your FSD with something smaller, then when your done buy a proper FSD and be on your way.
