Impossible tasks to join power play 2.

Greetings,
during recent change that made rare goods trade and pod rescue tasks not provide any merit points, the FDEV at the same time locked every single player who never completed these tasks before out of PowerPlay 2 system and its benefits, due to those activities not only NOT provide any merits, but more importantly - disable ability to pledge to faction with functionality of PP2 system.

This is doubly troubling given this also locks of players from benefits of Power Play 2 pledges, especially in the light that rank 5 is lowest rank that gives faction perk [outside of rebuy in power's territory], and requires 15 000 merit points, while initial 5, forced weekly commissions give the following bonus merits:
2 000 [scanning wakes],
3 200 [bounties],
3 600 [transport power commodities],
2 800 [salvage cargo/rescue escape pods], and
3 600 [rare trade].
Total: 15 200 merit points.

I would like to officially ask when will this issue be resolved, either by making the tasks count towards weekly assignments without additional merits given, by changing the tasks required to any task that CAN be completed, by removing the requirement to complete 5 tasks initially or by allowing the system to refresh 'weekly' tasks during initial pledging period.

I am by no means an expert but, you could report a bug about it. However, I did all five of those things this week, and had no issue. The 2000 points for scanning ships (or wakes, maybe your faction was different), that's upon completion of the task itself. Rare trades might not give you point for the trade itself, but the overall "task" gives you 3600.

You just don't see it add up until after you've completed all five. Once I had a full set in the books, my rank immediately jumped to 7 or 8, with all the relevant associated bonuses and gift packages.

Unless anybody else has insight, of course. Again, not an expert, just someone who plays casually.

Merits can be seen and added up in upper part of the screen. Those are added up correctly.

The issue specifically is lack of progress registration of Rare Material Trade task, as well as Recovery of Escape Pods task, which are not registered since earlier today [even though apparently merit granting was disabled yesterday as well] specifically for purposes of weekly tasks completion [needed to even join power play system]. Specifically this system seems to fail to work since today's downtime. This one was verified across multiple accounts as well earlier today. I am not fully certain whether powerplay goods transfer get registered correctly as far as weekly tasks are concerned, given the merits transfer did work last time I tried it, but progress was not registered on weekly task menu. It does feel a bit as if the weekly tasks themselves got broken to some degree.

You are absolutely correct - yesterday, and in Your case - last week - all 5 worked as intended.

Just do them. The devs say you have to. Chop chop.
I'm sorry, do You have trouble with reading comprehension?

As of today's downtime, you can perform exact actions needed for the mission in question [at least as far as rare materials and rescue of escape pods are concerned], fulfil the terms of the mission, and the mission will not progress. Checked by multiple pilots in both rank 0 and ranks 5+. I.e. The tasks are NOT TRACKED.

Do I have to dumb the explanation down further, or would You prefer me to list a step-by-step reproduction for you to check it yourself?

First: Relax, he's taking the mick out of you and, first and foremost, the devs, as is @Factabulous' usual way.

Second: I can't comment on initial or low rank weeklies, but I just spent the evening doing my weeklies - I had ten of them this time - and all of them worked, even rares and pods. I am rank 48 now.

Not saying you didn't, but I get the feeling a lot of the "weeklies don't work!" posts might be because CMDRs skip reading the description and get their stuff or deliver their stuff from/to wrong systems.

There may of course be other bugs at play, but make sure you follow the instructions to the T, and don't do anything in between - get your pods, fly to the power contact, deliver them. Buy your rares, fly to the target system, deliver them. Don't mix tasks, and don't dock anywhere in between - maybe that helps, especially when cargo is involved.

As I said, I did all my ten weeklies tonight, and they were:
  • transport power commodities to a specific system - the description even told me which commodity to pick up
  • transport commodities to reinforcement - again, the description told me which commodity to pick up.
  • scan ships and wakes in a specific system
  • sell exploration data in a specific system
  • hack adverts in a specific system
  • get bounties in reinforcement systems
  • scan megaships in reinforcements
  • salvage cargo from reinforcements
  • sell rare goods in reinforcements
  • rescue pods from a specific undermining system and deliver them to a specific control system

Always read the fine print, often the weeklies are much more specific than the general title might suggest. Again, all my ten weeklies worked fine the way I did them and I earned 43k merits for them.

Today as I saw the last night's hotfix that reactivated trading merits [ https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-28-november-2024.630817/page-9#post-10495425 ] and fixed few login issues for other players, I performed the series of exactly the same actions as during the test.

I got to same systems, in same order, bought same amount of goods, and delivered them to same stations [admittedly I absolutely love the flight log files. Really.]. I also sold them in same quantities (following logs). Out of 4 systems tested, all 4 did not work yesterday when I wrote down this topic, and all 4 DID work, as intended today. All affected other players had same experience, with change of operation 'cutoff' around the time of the hotfix listed above.
