I have now been flying around for 3h trying to find this material that is supposed to be common. Needless to say I am starting to question the definition of common now. These are the places I have tried : Combat aftermath, weapons fire detected, degraded emissions, high intensity combat zones, hazardous extraction sites, low extraction sites. Am I missing something here ? Is the spawn for this material broken ??

I picked one up last night as a mission reward, but haven't been paying attention otherwise. I plan to kill things tonight, so will report back.

Flawed Focus Crystals Can be found in Combat Aftermath USS or collected from small and medium combat ships, such as RES pirates - I get heaps of them while mining from defending myself.
I've killed dozens of low level pirates and nothing ...
Update : I have visited 6 combat aftermath POI and not a single Flawed focus crystal (that took me about 4 hours)
That's why I mentioned the second part, killing RES pirates for parts, you could have killed a hundred or so in that time frame.

Yeah, OP, I've come across a bunch. Try playing aggressively rather than passively.

I have tried going in haz res and low res (for low level pirates and nothing)
I think I picked up flawed and normal focus crystals in a degraded emissions yesterday.
Might have been another kind of signal source too. First time I've seen them, but I only started playing 2 weeks ago and don't go for signal sources often.
