At the present time Interdictions in the game are rather toothless as you can always just run away from them.
My idea is to introduce Frame Shift Suppression technology to Interdictions. The lowest class of interdiction module could suppress all FSD activity for 10 seconds with more advanced and expensive modules suppressing the FSD for longer.
Pirates are likely to be able to find out information about successful traders and would therefore focus their attacks in a more discriminating manner.
FSD suppression would be double edge sword for the pirate as they would effectively be trapped in a box with their "victim" allowing Darwinian rules to apply.
The same would go for bounty hunters. This would actually make interdiction a real threat, rather than something you can easily run away from.
One thing I think that would really help here would be the ability to transfer credits to another player. Once the boarding other ships is complete it would be great if some Somalian type piracy could be introduced in the game. Taking hostages for ransom etc. This should create some great emergent gameplay.
