Improvements to the FSD system

I actually don't mind the SC feature... but devs could code a possibility to upgrade the acceleration of the damn thing - out of reach of gravitation pools of course...

I miss new thinking of the concept of hyperjumping. It is the same thing in every space game and fiction. Chaaaaaaaaaaaaarge ... and release. It is trivial to sit and wait for the charge. Invent something new ... please devs.

We crave more acceleration from zero to 500c in SC!

We crave more speed from FSD activation to launch!

Please and thank you devs :-D

I think you stand rather alone with those cravings.

In your defense though, the trailer features an FSD/SC system much cooler than the mechanic currently in place.

I would like SC to be a TINY bit faster, maybe 10% faster or something like that, because anything to make the pull away from a planet would be happily welcomed. I usually hyperjump to a different system and hyperjump back instead of doing that :p.

When it comes to hyperspace jump charging, I wish I could set the computer to count down from 10. Didn't it do that in Alpha?

To be honest, I'm reasonably happy with the system as it is. The only thing I'd change is acceleration at the top end, which currently turns long hauls (such as the notorious Hutton Orbital) into something to be avoided at all costs.

The thing is, the FSD is based on Frame Dragging and Elastic Space-Time. The Frame Shift Drive stretches space-time to achieve Faster-than-Light travel and as you move the space-time that has been stretched snaps back into place. Around planets and stars the gravity stretches space-time naturally and because space-time is already stretched the FSD cannot stretch it as far so maximum speeds are greatly reduced around planets and stars.

Gravity though doesn't have a range limit, it reaches out forever--distance only makes it weaker. So that long trip to Hutton Orbital you're still traveling through space-time that is partially stretched by the system primary. As you get further away your maximum speed gradually increases as you pull out of the star's gravity well until you start slowing down because you're dipping into the new gravity well of the star that Hutton Orbital orbits.

So it's not a case of accelleration being lack-luster at the edges of the system, it's the fact that you're still close enough to the star to be in its stretched space-time. Try decelerating the ship at those speeds, and then accelerating back to the maximum speed. It'll be very fast.
