Improving the interaction between the different professions in Elite: Dangerous

This thread is inspired by two things, my recent re-reading of the opening chapter of the Dark Wheel novella and the idea that as a trader carrying higher value cargo in greater volume should be inherently more dangerous than carrying a lower volume or a lower value cargo.

I think it would be great to have to think about whether it would be better to carry Grain in my Type 9 rather than Gold due to risk vs. reward. A big cargo of gold is going to attract a lot of attention, especially from organized crime factions.

I was thinking of ways to add extra depth to the game play from a piracy/trader perspective (I'm not a pirate, I actually prefer trading).

So my idea is that the player is able to contact and attempt to bribe the port authority of a specific station who will feed information to the player via the comms system when either docked at or in close proximity to a station.

Successful bribery will remain in effect at that station for 8 hours (Until the next shift)

This info could relate to PC or NC traders when they depart the station. The higher the volume and higher the value of the cargo increases the likely hood that info will be passed on.

PC Pirates who fail the attempted bribery may be reported to the authorities with bounties being put out on their heads. Being allied with an organised crime faction may provide this info without having to bribe anyone directly as the faction will do it.

You are less likely to be able to bribe someone in a core world and would have to pay a much larger bribe. However anarchy systems would be much easier.

What do you guys think?
