Community Event / Creation In-browser Elite emulator

Hi guys,

While impatiently waiting for Dangerous I have been working on a BBC Micro emulator that runs in a modern desktop browser. Naturally, it runs the original Elite!

If you have a decent computer and Chrome or Firefox, then you can take it for a spin at bbc.godbolt.org

The launch button was F0 on the old Beeb; I've mapped that to F10. Other keys include < and > to rotate, S and X to look up/down, A to fire, SPACE and / to change speed and the F keys to change view.

Have fun!

Thanks :)

The "cub monitor" frame could do with being redrawn (instead of being a bad photograph inexpertly touched up by me!).

If you're in to that kind of thing, the source code and images are on github - patches welcomed :)

Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to saving state yet. The disc emulation supports saving, but I haven't exposed it in a decent enough way so that you can (say) clone the elite disc and then save your commander onto the new cloned disc.

I'd also like to support saving the whole emulator at arbitrary times, but I haven't done that yet either. Sorry! :)

Very impressive! But god was the game bad compared to today's standards lol. I feel very guilty about this but my nostalgia is best served by not playing the old classics. They always seem better in my memory ;)

I run a chromebook. Is it possible to have a key, like L to launch rather than F10. F10 does not work to launch. Please...
